Here is an update that the Womyn of the Protest Tent wrote us: "To all the dear
partners, anarchists, students, photographers -- actually, everyone who is
taking part, without being defined! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts
for the support, love, and hugs that you've given us. --- We still have a long
way ahead of us, but we've already been through a lot, and it couldn't have
happened without you. So don't blush or be humble, we just wanted you to know
that we thank you and love you. The last few days were really difficult, the
heat, the conditions, and dealing with city council, and these things together
threaten our progress all the time. On Wednesday morning, they had already
intended to evict us, what halted the eviction was the refusal of Magen David
Adom (Red Star of David) to send an ambulance. All of the anarchists that slept
over that night were witnesses to the situation.
After the city council workers left the place, we made a lot of telephone calls.
One of the people that came to the tent over the course of the day was Member
of Knesset MK Ran Cohen. He listened to us and took it upon himself to help.
Yesterday, Thursday, we had a meeting with the Mayor and one of his deputees and
the city council undersecretary. We told then simply that we are making one
medium-sized request, and two small requests. The medium-sized request is
to let us use the park without their threats of eviction, and the small
requests are to connect electricity for us, and to see to it that our
children are able to go to day camps. Of course we did not receive a
reply right away, they promised, *promised*, to get back to us with an
answer in a few hours. We are still waiting. In the meantime, some good
things have happened in the tent, some new families have joined us. Two
of the families are very religious, and we are organizing to supply them
with appropriate basic needs. Some bad things have happened, as well.
Last night, some people came to the tent and stole some things. They took
Ayala's purse from the tent while she was sleeping. Therefore, from
tonight, we have decided have a security rota. If you are able to come
for a night at some point and take part in the security rota, we would be
very happy. These are the latest updates. Have a great indoor or outdoor
weekend, and again, thanks.

* The "neo liberal" strangulation of the "well fare state" applied in Israel for
the last 10 years or so resulted in restriction of founding of housing for the
most needy people. From time to time there were protest camping in various
cities. Activists of the Israeli Anarchists Against The wall (AATW) participated
and were welcomed by the people in these camps. (AATW is not only of self abeled
anarchists but also activists of the wider spectrum of PGA - antiauthoritarian
anticapitalist direct action. and we are not restricted to the joint struggles
against the separation fence with Palestinian partners.)
