Glasgow Autonomous Space, 53 Kilbirnie Street ---- 6-8pm ----
https://www.facebook.com/unitylanguageexchange/ ---- Come and join us for the Unity*
Arabic/English language exchange! It is a conversation class where people can learn Arabic
and Arabic speakers can learn/improve their English and get to know each other in a
supportive environment - an environment where English is not put on a pedestal and
everyone is learning.
The class started as a response to the limited spaces for people to study ESOL at college.
Many are on waiting lists for many many months, so we wanted to act together so people
could practice their English in the mean time. Anyone of any level can attend. We also
urgently need more English speakers!
An organisation called Arika has given us some money to provide travel expenses for those
that could not attend the class otherwise, but this money is running out. Please help if
you can: https://www.youcaring.com/people-who-couldn-t-attend-otherwise-601139 Come on down!
*The Unity Centre has been open almost 10 years and offers unconditional support and
solidarity to asylum seekers and all other migrants http://unitycentreglasgow.org/
2. Food Not Bombs Organising Meeting

3. Fuck Off Tory Cunts Court Case
Glasgow Sheriff Court
David McHarg is on trial for displaying a ‘Fuck off you Tory cunts' poster on his window.
Class War Scotland has called for a solidarity demonstration outside Glasgow Sheriff Court.
4. Anarchist Federation Film Showing: The Anti-Fascists
Glasgow Autonomous Space, 53 Kilbirnie Street
In 2014, left-wing activists and a group of neo-nazis clashed in the immigrant quarter of
the Swedish town of Malmö, leaving several wounded and one anti-fascist - Showan Shattack
- nearly dead. That same year, a violent gang of Fascists attacked an anti-Racist
demonstration in Stockholm. A fight broke out between them and the few members of
Anti-Fascist Action, which left one Fascist wounded, and one anti-fascist in jail. In this
context, a documentary crew set out examining the history and activities of the Swedish
anti-fascist movement, and its connections to the same one in Greece. Its successes and
failures have lessons for all of us.
Join us for tea and biscuits at GAS (we'll heat the upstairs room up ahead of time:-)) and
we'll watch the film and chat about it informally afterwards. Free, all welcome, donations
5. Red and Black Song Club
Glasgow Autonomous Space, 53 Kilbirnie Street
Glasgow libertarian left choir celebrating songs of working class struggle, anti-fascism
and resistance. Keeping the tradition of radical song alive.
6. Celtic Connections free concerts heads up
Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, top of Buchanan Street
Loads of Celtic Connections events are super expensive, but did you know that there is a
free concert every day, Danny Kyle's Open Stage, at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall at 5pm?
The Danny Kyle Open Stage is a series of concerts held over the course of the festival
that allows emerging musical talent to take part in Celtic Connections. From all the
performers on the Open Stage, six will be chosen to display their talents in a showcase
concert on the final night, and receive the opportunity to perform in support slots at
next year's festival.
Danny Kyle was a passionate supporter of Scottish traditional music, and campaigned
tirelessly for its revival in Scotland. His close friend Liz Clark comperes the concerts
in his memory, and the concerts have a reputation for drawing attention to acts that are
now household names, including Karine Polwart and Rura.
The final showcase will be held on Sunday 4 February. Check www.celticconnections.com for
more information and details.
