Our Workshop section has been updated!! Check out the descriptions and start planning your
Anarchy weekend! If you have any questions, send âem our way at seattlebookfair
@riseup.net. ---- Sat 8/24 â 9:00pm â late ---- Pitch Black, a dance party featuring
Dubtek, 1KillaHz., and River Grimm. Benefits go towards establishing a new anarchist
social space. Shuttle van may be provided (cross your fingersâ). Check the Facebook event

Seattle Anarchist Book Fair stands in solidarity with all survivors of ---- abuse
including but not limited to rape, sexual assault, intimate partner abuse, domestic
violence, coercion and manipulation. We take all claims of abuse seriously, honor and
support however a survivor chooses to address their abuser. This can include, but is not
limited to, a survivor or a survivors support system asking their abuser to leave the SABF.
SABF strives to create a space where survivors of abuse feel supported and safe because
creating spaces where marginalized people are validated is one of the many of projects of
liberation. Survivors of abuse are often dismissed, discredited and disrespected.
SABF will not engage in debates about the validity of a survivors claims. SABF will not
tolerate the harassment or intimidation of survivors during the SABF or during any events
associated with SABF. SABF acknowledges that we live in a rape culture and makes all
attempts to create a space that is in direct opposition to rape culture.
There will be an (A)-Cafe Friday night before the bookfair kicks off, August 23rd, at 7
P.M. at Black Coffee, located at 501 E. Pine St (on Capitol Hill). The proceeds for this
event will go to benefit Mapuche Warriors in Chile facing intense state-repression amidst
anti-terrorism charges. More information on this event to come.
The Seattle Anarchist Book Fair on August 24th and 25th is one month away. We look
forward to seeing old friends and making new ones over the weekend. The collection of
tables looks both interesting and diverse in the corners of the anarchosphere that they
inhabit, and the workshops offer challenges and opportunities for inciteful discussion, as
well as offering practical skills.
While the book fair is coming together well, the organizers do have some things we would
like to see happen that we need to just admit that we do not have capacity to undertake.
This is a callout for support in these areas.
Childcare â we recognize that anarchist parents need support in looking after their kids,
and have, in the past, endeavored to create a space that is safe and comfortable for
children. We also have to be real: The Vera Project does not have a good room to have kids
in separately, where they can enjoy quiet time, relax, or just generally chill out. Last
year we had a table with art supplies, and this year will likely do the same, as well as
having age appropriate books and zines, but we canât promise to watch children and make
sure that the book fair happens. Parents or friends of children are welcome to avail
themselves of what we can supply, but we also welcome and encourage others organizing a
more formal childcare system, should there be energy to do so, please contact us so we can
coordinate and discuss logistics.
Housing â Several of the out of town projects and presenters are in need of housing for
the weekend (most likely Fri 8/23 â Sun 8/25, though the specifics will obviously vary be
person). If there are anarchists in the area who would be interested in hosting folks,
send us email about the nature of your living situation (squat, mansion, 24-hour party
house, etc) how many people you could house, and any other pertinent information (pets?
kids? accessibility info?) and we will do our best to put people in touch with each other.
Thank you to everyone who makes the Seattle Anarchist Book Fair happen, and even more so,
to all who make the Pacific Northwest such an exciting place to be an anarchist! Part of
what makes the book fair so good is the level of activity in our region, and we hope to
see folks reppin hard book fair weekend.
âThe 2013 Seattle anarchist Book Fair organizers
PS- this is possibly the first of a few practical messages from us leading up to the

Planning for the 2013 Seattle Anarchist Book Fair is underway!!!
Posted on March 13, 2013 by sabf
ïPlease join us for the 5th Annual Seattle Anarchist Book Fair, August 24-25th, 2013. The
weekend promises to continue the tradition of creating a space in which anarchists can
come together, make new connections, deepen existing relationships, and expand our
understanding of our role as antagonists against the social order. Over the past several
years, the Pacific Northwest has been the focus of intense and uncompromising oppositional
conflict, and has also seen intense repression levelled against its radicals. It is our
desire to provide a space in which to renew our feelings of hatred towards society, foment
new arenas of confrontation and strengthen our affinities with each other.
As in previous years there will be booksellers, distributors, and independent presses from
all over Seattle and beyond. More importantly, we hope to continue our tradition of
providing a space for workshops and discussions that deepen and exapnd our understanding
of anarchist theory and action. Last year workshops included focuses on grand juries and
FBI repression, women of color in the anarchist milieu, queer negation, anarchist
nihilism, decolonizing Occupy, and anarchist parenting, among many others. We hope to see
a similarly diverse and engaging collection of discussions this year.
To request a table, or propose a workshop, please email us:
