(en) Brazil, Minas Gerais, UberlÃndia - COLLECTIVE WORLD anarchist (COLETIVO MUNDO ÃCRATA) - About Us (pt) [machine translation]

The World anarchist Collective was formed in late 2010 and since then has been signing up
as a group and defining their strategies and performance spaces. Between that first year
and mid-2011, we conducted an initial Free Course of Anarchism , divided into modules more
or less monthly in which we discussed some "classics" of anarchism (Proudhon, Bakunin,
Kropotkin and Rocker). ---- That first activity possessed a dual purpose. Held inside the
Universidade Federal de UberlÃndia, we wanted to point out that there is still an interest
in anarchist politics: what happens, through its Institute of History, over many years a
considerable scholarship on anarchism was being produced, but in lately its monographs,
articles, theses and dissertations were increasingly relegated to the dust of the archives
and our Documentation Centre (or drifting in the infinite sea of ââelectronic data files).
Academic research does not indicate production of political action, but it is one way of
keeping alive the anarchist presence in society and a possible gateway to militancy today.
Our second goal with Free Course was to create an opportunity for self-training the group
home. In a self-training to launch a space where they could meet individuals with a desire
for freedom in the veins and willingness to act in its construction and also in a sense
best among those we discuss, we proposed to comprise the Collective, which understood by
anarchism and possible courses of action according to our reality.
Our assessment of the activity was extremely positive. We had a satisfactory number of
interested to know more about the subject and some people who have even become part of the
Collective (while an even greater number of people who initially intended to form the
group slowly fading away, which is recurrent in this type of organization !). After an
ill-fated attempt to hold another event within the walls of the University - this time the
interest showed up almost nil, we do not know if by any failure of disclosure to be time
to strike of civil servants and teachers or simply because nobody liked it the proposed
Workshops - we started talking about our best possible performances.
The starting point for this discussion was the question: where most of us have is acting
or will act in the near future? Most members of the Collective anarchist world is made up
of teachers or those in "training", what we perceive as a thought in common would then
consideration of education as a political slant possibility of intervention daily.
Education does not necessarily mean "school". The joint construction of strategies and
alternatives with the residents of a neighborhood to solve their problems is education,
education and union activity involves several other alternatives. However, the social
space that was more familiar and common to the group at the time, and therefore more
conducive to experimentation active politics, was the school.
Experimentation with students who have specific reasons for being there (which can range
from "liking school" to "come because the council protect threatened to take custody of my
mother if I did not come"), other teachers who have specific reasons for being there
(which can range from a generic "I believe that education can make a difference" to "work
here just to survive, could not pass the tender Regional Court"); supervisory board and
that they intend to assert themselves even among " teachers' and actually act as mere
state bureaucrats; gangorram between parents who rely on some social utility of school for
their children and even more right to serve the school and a custodian of children and
teenagers while the adults work. They want a political environment more richly than this?
More challenging for any militant anarchist? We doubt that Edgar Leuenroth Neno Vasco or
be able to perform as beautifully as they did in their time they were in a public school
That last sentence was obviously a provocation. What we mean is that often anarchists
today to see action on education, especially school as something "easier", made by
militants who can not or do not have enough courage to act in the "real" movements
society. We affirm, however, that there is no environment more confrontational, complex
and at the center of the "agenda" in terms of potential to move society than this. That
vision is because we realize that even some anarchists who are teachers, when they enter a
classroom forget anarchism outside and carry out activities with their students, fellow
teachers, parents and any other direction as liberal professor who wants to pass content
previously apostilados on passive beings sitting at desks lined up.
Do not reflect on ways of libertarian construction joint knowledge, do not think about
their postures and positions, for example, in staff meetings when a decision has to be
taken, not create alternatives on how to talk with a parent at a meeting on the son "
messy "so as not to simply place the blame on young for him to revolt against the nonsense
that is your school; put the blame and expect solutions of the problems of the school
coming from governments, without trying to mobilize minimally one that is actually , the
largest force in that environment, their own students. And so on ...
What we think is missing from these anarchists also see education in its true potential
political and not "cultural" as they like to talk about: a sense of "afterthought" to be
resolved in society, whose transformations "do not fill the belly" the needy or they would
not have the same importance as other social movements in revolutionary terms and
Thus, lacking today, in our view, among anarchists in general militancy everyday, hard
and persistent in education, even more within schools. Missing a communication network,
exchange experiences, political and pedagogical reflection, knowledge production,
collective creation of alternative actions at school, mutual support, reference centers
organizational anarchists among educators. We do not speak of lines of research on
university education anarchist, but something built by educators whose anarchist militancy
is everyday, persistent and real society. Nor crave just create classes more "liberal",
"light" or "nice" to students, but rather build in conjunction with other school subjects
ample space (beyond the walls of the building itself) alternative defense, self-
organization and self-education.
The Collective World aims to be an anarchist group that works gradually as this network
of educators anarchists and libertarians (that word broadest sense, often useful for
people prefer not to define anarchists). Their synthesis begins s proposals are:
â Act as a study group for self-training in order to reflect on education anarchist (does
not mean only discuss pedagogical issues, even studying unionism, art, psychology,
history, anarchist theory to action subsidizes educational broad sense).
â Function as a group creation and dissemination of alternative activities for educators.
Through the exchange of mutual experiences and collective discussion, working towards
suggestions of classes, activities and inter disciplinary extra (completely out of the
official curricula), alternative positioning of the educator front of students, parents,
colleagues, government etc.. in order to self-organization and self-education. It is not
about creating "recipes" for the actions of another, but incite reflection on practices of
each partner that are already working, or that potentially could go right to the overlap
of the suggestion by every educator in your reality .
â Act as a means of propaganda of anarchism as an alternative pedagogical and educational.
This can only be done well through concrete experiences - individual and collective - lest
they fall into the theoretical pure propaganda. No good in the same sense, our work spaces
"acclimated" one, for example, "cultural space" where only those already interested appear
to pre-selected activities. We aim to work in situations common to most educators: public
schools, mostly overcrowded, fraught with problems of bureaucratic and infrastructural
etc. If, as anarchists, we fail to act in social spaces where the problem really is,
proposals anarchists will be just another beautiful theory, workable only under ideal
circumstances and unreal.
â Act as a network of communication and contact between educators who have their
experiences, thoughts and hopes in a performance anarchist and / or libertarian, but it
can often feel lonely in their work (and why they give up). It would also be a way to make
themselves find these people to organize joint actions.
Thus, in summary, the World Collective anarchist proposes to a performance at once
individual and collective. A constant militancy everyday activities and work of each of
its members, but that is enhanced through the group as a social activity that goes beyond
ourselves and involves the creation, communication, advertising, reflection, collective
organization of others with a view education and an anarchist society.
