(en) Le-Monde Libertarie #1691 - The impasse - still deadlocked Middle East (fr) [machine translation]

It's been almost ten years since I write regularly in Le Monde libertarian articles on the
situation in "Israel-Palestine". Every time I hope, without much hope, however, that an
early solution may emerge. I must say now that hope is gone. In this endless nightmare
there are still strong. We must salute these women and men who get up every morning and
say "I do not participate." ---- Natan and his refusal ---- November 19 Natan White,
nineteen, came to his barracks. He declared his refusal to serve in the Israeli army. He
was sentenced to ten days in jail and has also received a suspended sentence of ten days.
This is how he expresses his position: "I started thinking about refusing to enlist in the
IDF during Operation Cast Lead in 2008. The wave of aggressive militarism that has swept
the country, then the expressions of mutual hatred, and meaningless speech on the
eradication of terror and creating a deterrent effect were the main triggers of my refusal.
Today, after four full years of terror, without a political process [to peace
negotiations] and without appeasement in Gaza and Sderot, it is clear that the Netanyahu
government, like its predecessor Olmert do not want to find a solution to the current
situation, but rather strives to make it last. From their point of view, there is nothing
wrong to launch an operation "Cast Lead 2" operation to carry every three or four years
(then Cast Lead 3, 4, 5 and 6) we will talk deterrence, we will kill a terrorist, we will
lose some civilians on both sides, and we will prepare the ground for a new generation
steeped in hatred on both sides. As representatives of the people, members of the firm
have no obligation to present their vision of the future of the country, they can continue
indefinitely this bloody cycle. But we, as citizens and human beings, have a moral duty to
refuse to participate in this cynical game. "(Source europalestine.com).
Anarchists against the Wall
Fridays, holidays in Palestine, demonstrations were held to protest against the Wall from
villages B'ilin, Ni'lin and surrounding areas. On 11 November, sent military and police
officials have given activists individual notice of denial of access to these villages on
Friday until March 2013. This order was signed by the military headquarters. If these
commands do not apply to people, they show the increasing nervousness of the military
authorities. In deciding their own making to transform this part of Palestine in a closed
military zone to Israeli citizens, they demonstrate the effectiveness of these non-violent
protests and likely growing unease among Israeli military are faced with fellow allies in
enemy Official.
The comments Uri Avnery
Avnery is probably the oldest Israeli peace. In his latest post on his blog, he recalled
that in the next election primaries held within the party Netanyahu: "All the" moderates
"of his party have been transferred without ceremony. There remained no alibi liberal
democracy. Likud Beiteinu faction-the next Knesset will consist entirely of right-wing
extremists and fascists among them several proven, people who want to abolish the
independence of the Supreme Court, the West Bank cover a dense network of settlements and
prevent by all possible means peace and the creation of a Palestinian state. "For Avnery,"
one apartheid state is reality. If nothing changes on the ground, it will grow and
strengthen. Almost every day we learn that he is growing. (The bus monopoly has announced
that from now on there would be separate buses in Israel for Palestinians in the West
Bank.) "The hope of creating Kibbutz with another type of social relations, shared in the
years sixties by some anarchists, is dead.
And now what can happen?
It is possible that the situation continues with its explosions of violence carefully
controlled and programmed. They are required to maintain the power of the enemy brothers
that are Hamas and Netanyahu's coalition. W. Chester, The World's libertarian December 5,
so beautifully demonstrated. It is also possible that, in the great diplomatic game to
make the United States their management role leading the world, this abscess is an
obstacle to the settlement of Iran and Syria. The Obama administration would then pay the
Israeli right's inability to negotiate a definitive end to this conflict microphone. The
alternative would be that we could expect that the domestic economic situation
deteriorates so that calls to regular weapons are acted upon, but there do not dream.
Meanwhile, the resistance inside Israel more than ever need our support. Like many others
elsewhere are fighting for our humanity.
