"It is urgent opposition to the projects of privatization and commercialization of
education" ---- What is the difference you FES and other student groups? ---- The Social
and Student Front is an organization of students and young working-class aspiration and
libertarian socialist politico. What sets us apart from other student groups is a proposal
for direct action and self-student organization, contrary to mentoring and class
collaborationist reinforces bourgeois institutions, seeking emancipation from students on
their own. ---- What is the status of the student movement? How do you think should be
directed and what tasks lie ahead? ---- Currently the student movement is in a phase of
building structures in assemblies, something visible in many Spanish cities. We believe
that the way forward is to encourage proliferation, settlement and coordination of these
structures, so that they become tools of struggle and organization for the student body.
For homework, we consider it urgent opposition to privatization projects and
commercialization of education, either through reforms such as those proposed by the
current and previous government and by European plans as Bologna or Strategy 2015 . We
think that this opposition should be done, since the student movement without leaving
aside the class perspective, considering that these reforms are clear benefit current
operating model and, at the same time, building a popular education alternative, this is
managed and to serve the interests of working people.
- Your organization works in Zaragoza, do you have contact with other similar groups or
expandiros expect in the future?
We are currently in contact with a few groups from the rest of the Spanish state, with
which we are trying to accomplish building a federation focused on building a social
student organization and as we've driven in Zaragoza, we consider it necessary in these
moments creating an organization of this kind in the entire state. We would like to seize
the opportunity to offer us invite any group interested in this federal process to contact
us through our e feszgz@riseup.net
- What is your reading of the draft education reform?
We recently conducted an analysis, available on our website, the latest draft of the Law
for the Improvement of Education (LOMCE) announced by the ministry of education and we can
say that we have a new reactionary reform focused on the privatization of education the
detriment of the quality of public education, especially in cultural, religious
indoctrination that puts the same level as, for example, to philosophy and which is in
line with the construction of a model based on the work farm precarious, temporary and
controller, rather than to the human, truly scientific or professional.
- Education is a way out of this crisis, as some feathers usually defend the power bloc?
There are some traps in such statements. Currently, from the institutions and, in
particular, from the European Space for Higher Education, we are seeing is promoting a
model that aims to make education, not the law should be, but in a business, something
they achieve various ways: by increasing rates, competition between schools and
universities, the share of corporate interests in the governing bodies of teaching,
scholarship-loan facilities or provide interns to companies (which in practice skilled
labor is very cheap for them). In short, private capital economically benefit from public
education, while at the same time this teaching is dedicated to educating people to meet
the interests of that private capital. This speech, which are terms like "knowledge
society", "lifelong learning" or "employability" is that, from power, is being promoted
for some years.
We believe, on the contrary, that the solution to the crisis of capitalism is only
possible ending capitalism. And in this task if that education can play an important role.
Conquering education, just as they can conquer a factory, to focus it towards the
development of a new economic paradigm, towards the construction of libertarian socialism
and to the triumph of the working class, is how we can turn it into an actual output to
the crisis .
- What is your relationship with the labor movement?
We understand the students, mostly as the training sector of the working class. Training
is another phase of the production process, which currently ensures the reproduction of
the system itself. That is why we believe that the student struggle and the workers'
struggle must go hand in hand.
The main link between the student and the worker can find in the precarious young. That is
why we are now beginning to develop work in the area of ââjob insecurity especially youth
suffering of the working class, attacked by high unemployment and the devaluation of their
working conditions through proliferation and pseudocontratos microcontratos. Task that we
carry out in collaboration with formations of revolutionary syndicalism.
