Announcing: Two Free Teach-Ins on Voisey's Bay

Where? Metro Hall, Room 302 55 John St., Toronto When? September 13 & 20 2 - 4 p.m.

Details: Saturday Sept 13 - What can we expect from INCO?

This teach-in will cover INCO's corporate record on labour, safety, and the environment. It will be led by Sudbury author, columnist and investigative journalist Mick Lowe, who has been tracking INCO for 25 years.

Saturday Sept 20 - Environmental Effects of Mining

This teach-in will cover the basics of the mining and milling process, and will explain in lay terms the specific environmental threats posed by sulfide ore mining. It will be led by Dr Isobel Heathcote, Professor of Engineering and Environmental Science at the University of Guelph, and advisor to the Innu Nation on the Voisey's Bay Environmental Assessment.

Teach-ins co-presented by the Voisey's Bay - Innu Rights Coalition and the Ontario Public Interest Research Group (Toronto).

The Voisey's Bay - Innu Rights Coalition (VB-IRC) is a Toronto-based network working closely with the Innu Nation to focus public attention on current developments at Voisey's Bay and to help uphold Innu objectives for land rights, cultural self-determination, environmental integrity, and a fair and respectful relationship with the mining industry.
