Who runs "the" internet system may very well be determined by decisions being made at high governmental levels. The info needs to be spread around.

This describes what the OECD community is planning for global information.

The initial para. states: The Meeting of the OECD Council at Ministerial level in 1995 requested the Committee onInformation, Computer and Communications Policy (ICCP) to develop recommendations for policies thatfully exploit the contributions of advances in technology in the context of Global Information Infrastructures -- Global Information Society (GII-GIS).

This report contains the recommendations(provided as italic text in boxes below) from the Background Report, Global Information Infrastructures-GlobalInformation Society (GII-GIS): Policy Requirements. ================

Since I hadn't seen reference to this in MY reading, it may not be generally known what is being planned by the folks that have brought GATT, and who intend to bring MAI to fruition.
