Demonstration on 12 noon, July 25th in front of the Whittier Courthouse in Whittier, California on behalf of Matt Hart of Whittier Food Not Bombs nad the homeless community of Whittier!

Background:

Whittier Food Not Bombs has been the subject of police harrassment for well over a year because of their commitment to sharing food with the homeless population of Whittier. This harrasment has included ticketing for "serving food without a license", spying by undercover police at servings, and police disruption of servings.

But the harrasment of Food Not Bombs is only one part of a larger effort by the Whittier City Council to drive out the homeless community. The Whittier City Council has authorized the harrassment of homeless shelters and the arbitrary arrest of homeless people, the locking of public bathrooms on city parks and property at dusk, and threatening churches (!) that become too enthusiastic about helping the homeless or publicly supporting Food Not Bombs.

We urge you to come on July 25th at 12 noon to the Whittier Courthouse, on the corner of Marvista and Greenleaf, in Whittier CA. to show your solidarity with the homeless community of Whittier and with Matt Hart of Food Not Bombs who will be contesting a citation he recived for the offense of sharing food with the homeless.
