Last Tuesday, the 27th of May, was the thirtieth anniversary of the referendum which granted australian Aborigines full citizenship of this country. It was marked around the continent by rallies and marches.
In Brisbane, Queensland, the march began with a rally in the city and ended up in Musgrave Park in South Brisbane, with an afternoon of entertainment. Food was served and there was dancing by some of the aboriginal dance groups from the region.
This anniversary comes at a time when there is increasing pressure on the federal government to extinguish certain recently-recognised native title rights. There appears to have been very little *real* improvement in the position of aboriginal people in this country in the last 30 years.
