*I-AFD Group Hamburg I* (i-afd_2@anarch.free.de) ALBANIA REPORT from March the 20., 1997

State owned German media apparently decided that Albania wasn't an issue any longer: radio and TV stations did not mention Albania.

Euronews said that Italy is preparing humanitarian aid. Italian authorities, they announced, had denied that the elite troops mobilized would cover the transport of humanitarian help or help in de-arming Albanian rebels.

The number of refugees arrived in Italy was announced to amount to 11,000 persons. Nothing was said about new refugees arriving last night or today.

Tirana was only mentioned shortly: Tirana airport has been reopened and it was said that those Albanians holding documents and visa may now leave the country by plane. Some diplomats' documents which were said to have disappeared during "unrests" have been declared invalid by the Albanian government.

Despite the deadline for the ultimatum to Berisha running out today, news did not mention anything about the situation, and there were no reports from the south.

BBC World announced that Southern rebels have said they still demand Berisha to step down but will not use violence, and that was all being mentioned on this issue.
