APRIL 4 - 5:

DAYS OF REMEMBRANCE, REDEDICATION, AND RESISTANCE

On April 4, 1968, the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. was taken covertly by the hand of an assassin. Today the life of Mumia Abu-Jamal is threatened openly by the hand of a court.

THEY SHALL TAKE THEM NO MORE!

The International Concerned Family & Friends of Mumia Abu-Jamal, Refuse & Resist!, Afrikan Frontline Network, the Bruderhof communities, Coalition to Free Mumia Abu-Jamal (NY), People Against Racist Terror, Mark Taylor (coordinator of Academics for Mumia Abu-Jamal) and Workers World Party call on all groups and individuals to organize programs, book readings, speak-outs, actions, and commemorations throughout the country on April 4-5, the anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. We choose these days to remind people of the ruthlessness with which this country treats prominent Black figures that are seen as threatening to the establishment, and to server notice that we will not let them take Mumia.

This is a crucial moment in the battle to free Mumia. The case is before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, which could rule at any time. The federal laws have been changed to restrict the right of federal courts to review state court decisions. What is required now is a determined and highly visible effort across the country.

Local groups, coalitions and chapters of national organizations are urged to come together to give these events maximum publicity and impact on the eve of the April session of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court in Philadelphia. IN THE EVENT OF ANY ADVERSE DECISION BY THE COURT BEFORE APRIL 4-5, we must immediately take our protests to the streets, to the air waves, and to the people. Please contact ICF&FMAJ and R&R to report planned events and to join this call.
