A Call For Solidarity With The MRTA!

For A Peaceful Solution To The Seizure Of The Residency!

Dear friends,

Throughout all these days we have receieved clear signs of solidarity from different parts of the world. At this time, when in a few days one month will have passed since the start of the seizure of the Japanese residency, it is necessary to put pressure on Mr. Fujimori to release all of our political prisoner comrades, who are hostages of the dictatorial regime. In order to achieve this, we propose two actions to be carried out over the next few days:

1. Protests in front of the embassies and consulates of the Peruvian state throughout the world, demanding the release of our political prisoner comrades as the condition for the solution to the crisis. We propose the 16th, 17th, and 18th [of this month, January].

2. Send letters signed by organisations, parties, unions, associations, and people in general to the government of President Fujimori, with copies to human rights organisations and the International Red Cross, as well as e-mails to various media organizations throughout the entire world.

Here are the addresses and fax numbers where you have to send the letters:

- Sr. Alberto Fujimori; Palacio de Gobierno. Plaza de Armas s/n. Lima, Peru Fax: 51-1-44266770 - Cruz Roja Internacional, Sr. C. Coutau; 19, Avenue de la Paix / 1202 - Geneva, Switzerland Fax: 41-22-7332057. E-mail: webmaster.gva@gwn.icrc.org - Asociacion Pro Derechos Humanos (Aprodeh); Jr. Pachacutec 980, Lima 11, Peru Fax: 51-1-2411320. E-mail: postmaster@aprodeh.org.pe - Coordinadora Nacional de Derechos Humanos; Tupac Amaru 2467. Lima 14, Peru Fax: 51-1-4411533. E-mail: postmast@cnddhh.org.pe

In our next w-mail we will add a sample letter. You can add what you think is best.
