Dear Fellow Activists:

All of you have received information on the torture campaign that is being waged against Ritt Goldstein, the activist in Connecticut who has written legislation creating a statewide civilian police oversight board. The reason that the police have been able to carry out such a campaign is the silent assent of the Justice Department and of activists. Here are some letters that activists should send to authorities in the Justice Department before Mr. Goldstein is killed or forced to leave his state and his courageous crusade for civilian oversight. If you can please forward information about Ritt's case to other activists. If we stand alone, we stand defenseless.

Attorney General Reno's personal fax number is (202) 307-2825.

Honorable Janet Reno Attorney General U.S. Department of Justice Washington, DC 20530

Dear Attorney General Reno,

As an advocate for civil rights, I am very troubled by Ritt Goldstein's allegations that his activism has made him the target of a police vendetta and that police abuses (including chemical attacks on his home and his car) have been allowed to continue and escalate.

Mr. Goldstein has sought from the U.S. attorney's office in New Haven, CT a polygraph test and a good faith investigation of his allegations, including an analysis of the materials used to spray Mr. Goldstein's home. However, such actions have been actively avoided. I respectfully request that you urge the Federal Bureau of Investigation to investigate, in earnest, the horrors surrounding justice system activists in Connecticut generally and Ritt Goldstein in particular.

Thank you for your consideration of this urgent matter.

Sincerely,

U.S. Attorney Chris Droney's fax number is (203) 773-5376.

U.S. Attorney Mr. Chris Droney 157 Church Street New Haven, CT 06508

Dear Mr. Droney:

As an advocate for civil rights, I am very troubled by Ritt Goldstein's allegations that his activism has made him the target of a police vendetta and that police abuses (including chemical attacks on his home and his car) have been allowed to continue and escalate.

Please explain why, despite repeated pleas by Mr. Goldstein, F.B.I. agents Russ Dalrimple, Julian Stackhouse, Jim Millen, and Merrill Parks have successively refused to, at a bear minimum, test Mr. Goldstein's home and/or car for chemical exposure. Mr. Goldstein has offered to take a polygraph test to establish the veracity of his claims.

Please do not ignore this alleged tragedy of justice, which serves as a blight upon everything the United States Constitution, which was created to assure against systematic abuse of this nature. Thank you for your consideration in this urgent matter.

Sincerely,

Paul J. Hirschfield Northwestern University, Evanston, IL. USA p-hirsch@nwu.edu
