PEDRO ALVAREZ MURDERED BY A POLICEMAN IN 1992

THE ASSASSIN REMAINS FREE

WE DEMAND JUSTICE AND THE PURGING OF THE FASCIST MACHINE OF THE SPANISH STATE

Pedro Alvarez was a 20 year old man who died 4 years ago in Hospitalet,
killed by two shots fired by a motorist (a cop) who had previously nearly
run him over. His father is on hunger strike since monday December 2 1996,
in a camping tent set up in front of Hospitalet's (Barcelona) courthouse
where the case was heard.

This protest action supported by family and friends and by A.C.A.P.
(Asociacio'n contra los Abusos del Poder - Association against the abuse of
power) is to demand the reopening of the case, and the continuation of the
investigation which has not been carried out correctly. At the same time we
demand the purging of the spanish state's fascist machine.

Pedro's assassination ocurred on December 15 1992 as he was taking his
girlfriend Yolanda Sua'rez home and they were almost run over by a vehicle
(a white Opel Vectra). The young lady reacted automatically and insulted the
driver, who got out of the car, grabbed her and shook her till she was
thrown to the ground. Meanwhile Pedro was trying to defend her and an
argument took place between him and the aggressor, who produced a gun and
fired point blank into Pedro's head, killing him. The motorist escaped in
the vehicle. Approximately 36 hours later a police officer was arrested
(J.M.S.F., of the "Citizen's Security" Brigade, and part of the King's
security squad during the Barcelona Olympic Games in 1992) who owned a car
of the same make and model with two digits of its license plate the same as
those given by the sole witness, who possessed a gun of the same caliber as
the killer weapon, who was of age and physical characteristics similar to
those given by the witness, and who also frequented the area.

This cop was released seven days later for lack of conclusive evidence,
according to the judge hearing this case, M.J. Magaldi.
