This is a copy of a letter received by UPA and sent from "somewhere in the
spanish state" this past October 20th:
"This letter is about a call at the national level for a Day of Struggle for
the freedom of imprisoned insumisos and for insumision, set for the 15th of
December 1995, practically two months away.
This day has been called of necessity, given the repression that the state
has been carrying out against Insumision. Today, according to reliable data,
there are 290 insumisos in prison and more than one hundred under search and
capture orders. This way the repression has largely decapitated the
antimilitary movement, and thus the response to these jailings translates
into minoritarian mobilizations, uncoordinated and done by those closest to
the insumiso in question.
We expect that this struggle will give back to the prisoners and to
insumision the social and collective importance that it has. On this day
there will be acts, actions and demonstrations of all kinds, creative,
hard-hitting, highly visible and imaginative ...
For now we have contacted people in Aviles, Gijon, Valladolid, Leon and
Madrid. In this last city there will be an illegal demonstration on the 15th
at 8PM at Plaza de Chueca. We expect that, for once, the alphabet soup will
be cast aside and that people will mobilize for a situation that is, in our
view, intolerable and fascist.
And so, without pretending to institutionalize the 15th, and without
"dissappearing" the other 364 days, we encourage you, we agitate you and we
expect you to make this gathering your own and to do what you can so that
this day will work out and raise consciousness and bring attention to the
situation of silence in which the jailed insumisos live and to insumision.
Don't wait for anybody to do it for you, act."

THE POLICE BLOCK A STREET TO ARREST AN OKUPA.

On the 31st of October the national police blocked San Isidro Labrador
Street, in La Latina, as they tried to enter an okupied house in the same
street to arrest one of the inhabitants who, in a fight with some nazis in a
bar, supposedly knifed one of them. An attorney showed up to negotiate with
the police and avoid their entering the okupied house.
LOCAL FOR A SOCUIAL CENTER OKUPIED IN MALAGA

The Asamblea Autonoma Revolucionaria Okupa of Malaga informs that a building
has been okupied in the city, at 41 Diez Street, which from now on houses an
Ateneo Autonomo. Activities in collaboration with other organizations and
social movements of the city are going on. About 15 people also live in the
premises, keeping good relations with their neighbors.
-Documentation center in Zaragoza. A documentation center named INDEX has
been inagurated. To become a member all you need is 500 ptas. or a book of
popular interest. The center has a library, dossiers (some 150 of them),
video library, magazines, fanzines and counter-informative publications.
They project to assemble theme dossiers on concrete subjects and photocopy
them.
