URGENT APPEAL ON BEHALF OF SARAH BALABAGAN

Sarah is a sixteen year old Filipina girl who is currently under
sentence of death in the United Arab Emirates.

Her crime was simply to defend herself against her employer
who raped her. In defending herself she stabbed him to death.
Sarah was condemned to death at a re-trial by an Islamic
court that rejected her claim to have been raped. An
earlier court hearing had convicted her of manslaughter
and she had been jailed for seven years. At the same time
the court awarded her compensation for having been raped.
This ruling was overturned at the re-trial and a death
sentence was imposed.

Sarah has 15 days from the 16th September to lodge an
appeal. We ask you not to ignore the dreadful plight
of so young a woman. You can help by writing to the
President and the Minister of Justice in the United
