Friday, June 2, the Antifascist Platform of Zaragoza
organized an antifascist demonstration protesting
the latest aggressions occurring in our city and the
murder of Ricardo Rodriguez in Madrid. More
than 1000 persons attended this demonstration
(exceeding the numbers of the last 2 of the 20-N).
The atmosphere was very tense and
combative. The march passed through the center of
the city and many of its participants were masked.
After the end of the demonstration, the main part
dispersed, but dozens of young people stoned the
pub Pachito, in the zone of Leon XIII and
frequented by nazis. Later they stoned the bar La
Croqueta, seat of the Ligallo Fondo Norte and the
place from which the nazis leave to go attack the
Beirut bar on the Sundays in which there are
football games.
In the few minutes of the last battle, various
carloads of riot police roped off the entrances,
cutting off the streets, of the Beirut and Barrio
Latino bars, that are located in streets near La
Croqueta and forced all the clients into the streets
who were identified with cheekiness by the
blockheads.
The press, more yellow than ever, spoke about
"criminal acts" committed by the antifascists (an
urban tribe) after the demonstration. Of course
they neither commented on the massive
identifications nor the charge of the police after the
antimilitarist march the following day.
MURDER IN LISBON
A group of some 50 neo-nazis assaulted a Lisbon
nightlife district on the morning of Sunday, June
11, attacking in his step any colored person that
passed through this zone. At least 12 persons were
wounded considerably and one of them, Alcino
Moreira, 27 years old, died one day later.
Several groups of the city demanded the resignation
of the Minister of the Interior because of the
scandalous attitude of the police, which in no time
intended to detain the aggressors. As you see, the
attitude of the police is the same everywhere.
Nine nazis were detained two days after,
presumably implicated in the aggression. A week
later, a group of Africans gave to the nazis its own
answer, stabbing two of them in the central district
of Lisbon. According to the latest information,
they have led new nazi attacks in this district.
MAIL BOMBS
A mail bomb sent by nazis wounded two women in
a matrimonial agency of Linz (Austria), frequented
by foreigners. Another letter bomb directed against
a television anchorwoman, who is the daughter an
African and a German, wounded her secretary in
Munich (Germany) the same day. Four days later a
new letter bomb wounded the general secretary of
the S.P.D. (social democrats) in Lubeck. The
Bavarian Liberation Army, an Austrian-German
neo-nazi organization which already claimed
responsibility for the murder of four gypsies at the
beginning of the year, claimed responsibility for the
three attempts.
It is suspected that the person behind the letter
bombs could be an nazi leader who escaped from
Austrian police and for the last three years has
lived in refuge in Barcelona, aided by members of
CEDADE.
Instead of persecuting the nazi assassins, the
German police detained fifty antifascist militants
accused of "violent activities". Once again, double
standards.

SHELL BOYCOTT
The intent of the multinational oil company to sink
in the North Sea a drilling platform has spurned
actions and campaigns of a boycott. Greenpeace
activists climbed atop the platform and launched
other actions in England and Germany. In
Germany, fifty delegates signed an appeal against
SHELL. Meanwhile, many other groups performed
acts of sabotage: on June 16, the sales office of a
gasoline station in Hamburg was burned after being
attacked with fire bombs and the boycott campaign
has decreased sales by close to 50%. A few days
later a high-ranking director of the company
received a letter bomb that was deactivated.
SHELL has ceded and will dismantle the platform
on land, although the English Parliament has not
accepted it and it will have to be done in Norway.
This multinational oil company suffered from
boycotts and sabotage in the 80s in several
European countries for its unconditional aid and
financial support of apartheid in South Africa.
ANIMAL LIBERATION
Actions against enterprises which exploit animals
and participate in activities such as hunting foxes
are very common in Great Britain. Along this line,
a tough campaign has been undertaken against the
Wimpey trash-food chain, with assaults on its
restaurants and demonstrations. Also, this has
been followed with sabotage against hunts, with a
net of cables to throw at the riders, seizing the fox
from the hunt and invasion of the boundaries such
as in Cheltenham, where 300 people were struck
by the police and four activists were detained.
Also, six hunt saboteurs were recently prosecuted
in Edinburgh and two in Kent.
** NEWS BRIEFS **
MONOLITH IN ALBATERA
On May 21, a monolith in the former
Concentration Camp of Albatera was inaugurated
in the municipal terminal of San isidro (Alicante).
The act, which was awaited by a large crowd of
people, was organized by the CNT of Valencia.
The contributions of numerous persons have made
the monument possible "in memory of all the
human beings who suffered and fought for a more
just world". Present at the ceremony were former
prisoners of 56 years ago.
In April of 1939, at the end of the Civil War,
thousands of people waited in the port of Alicante
to flee fascism, but the Franquista armada
prevented the entrance of foreign boats coming to
pick up refugees, and only a few succeeded in
leaving. Many antifascist combatants preferred to
commit suicide before surrendering to the enemy.
Thousands of prisoners were interned in
concentration camps.
In Albatera 20,000 people suffered hunger, thirst,
overcrowding, poor hygeine and every type of
illness from sleeping in the open air. Falangists,
Carlists and the Civil Guard visited the camp
requently to examine prisoners, many of which
were executed.
WHO ARE THE VIOLENT ONES?
On June 22, Lasa and Zabala, hidden, tortured, and
murdered byt the GAL fourteen years ago in the
Pais Vasco Frances and found buried in lime alive
after several months could not receive a dignified
burial. Their remains were taken to Madrid and the
shipping of them to their families was suspended on
several occassions. Finally on the 22nd, the
transfer and immediate burial was ordered in order
to prevent any sort of homage. National Police,
Civil Guard and Ertzaintaz guarded the coffins at
all times. In the Hondarribia airport everyone who
had come to receive th bodies were dispersed
violently, wounding many people among the
various delegates of H.B. In the cemetary of
Tolosa the brutal police charges were repeated,
attacks familiar to the murdered Lasa and Zabala.
These actions have caused sufficient commotion
and reflect the times of the Franco dictatorship.
Upon knowing these acts, many tonight as in the
following days registered serious incidents,
disturbances, sabotage and confrontations in
different localities of Euskal Herria.
On Thursday, May 22, in an act answering the
repression realized in San Sebastian where the
citizen Rosa Zarra, 58 years old, was mortally
wounded and died several days later, the victim of
a plastic bullet fired at close range by an Ertzaina.
For the better part of the following week the
spreading of the news of the murder of this woman
produced more incidents and numerous acts of
protest and sabotage, and also more wounded and
detained. The most outstanding of the acts is, again,
the habitual manipulation and silence on the part
of the mass media.
RELIGIOUS SECTS
The Supreme Court of Hamburg has ordered the
Church of Scientology (dangerous millionaire sect)
that it clearly express in its publicity that it is a
business whose purpose is making a profit. Among
other things this sect sells a sort of "eliminator of
negative energies" valued at 800,000 ptas and
various books at exhorbitant prices and spreads a
doctrine that is competitive and void of personality.
Does there remain an open legal pathway to attack
other sects and could it extend to the other states?
Why not here?
On the other hand, in Zaragoza, the neo-nazi sect
New Acropolis has engaged a short time ago in
some anti-racist military expeditions.
REPRESSION IN BYELORUSSIA
On May 1, in Gomel (Byelorussia) a peaceful
demonstration of anarcho-syndicalists, independent
syndicalists and other leftist groups was attacked
suddenly by special police forces. Seven
demonstrators were detained, mistreated and
threatened firearms in at the police station. They
have been accused of creating a public disturbance
and have to pay fines.
BRAZIL
On March 2, twenty nazi skinheads beat up some
youths aboard a train. When they left the train
they fired against it, killing an industrial worker.
The military police of San Paulo in its campaign to
prevent and capture bandits has 'liquidated' 136
people in January and February of '94. The 28% of
the indigenous population of Brazil has difficulties
in achieving a good level of nutrition and health.
DISTURBANCES IN BRADFORD
On the nights of June 10 and 11, the streets of the
church city of Bradford were witness to harsh
confrontations between hundreds of asian youth
and police. Police stations and shops were
attacked, fifteen detained and several wounded.
The cause was the detention and poor treatment
brought about by the police toward two youths for
playing football in the street.
NAZI SENTENCED
Javier Garcia, better known as "Caradificil", a neo-
nazi who has participated in numerous acts of
aggression, can go to the devil (?). Last summer he
was sentenced for one year in prison for
participating in the aggression against the beggars in
the Plaza de Sitios in December of 92. He has
since been out on conditional liberty, but has
continued with the aggressions. In December of 94
he assaulted an alternative youth and was
denounced. Considering his previous record and
being on conditional liberty, it was not judged a
crime but as 'mistakes'.
The 'mistakes' trial took place on May 31 (Acrat-
45) and he has been sentenced to five days in
prison, 12,000 ptas fine for injuries and 8,000 for
damage to eyeglasses. Upon being out on
conditional liberty and having returned to being
sentenced, it is very probable that the nazi will
have to complete sentence. To detach the action of
the assault, so that he is not left frightened by the
received threats, and continued with his
denunciation until the end.
