(pt) [Canada] March 3 and 4: Hamilton Anarchist Book Fair in Ontario By ANA

Date Tue, 6 Mar 2018 09:01:45 +0200

The Hamilton Anarchist Book Fair will be held on March 3 and 4 and aims to be a space for convergence and discussion between anarchists and anti-authoritarians throughout South Ontario. Our hope with this weekend is to contribute to the reconstruction of a sense of cohesion regional exchange among various anarchist tendencies to meet, exchange information about our contexts and projects, and find ways to work together to fight the stifling sheet of Canadian progressive democracy, revealing the antagonisms contained in capitalism and the Canadian state and elsewhere. ---- We have just published the final list of workshops and exhibitors, and we plan on taking a minute to talk a little bit of what to expect from the book fair. We have many workshop proposals, and our hope in what we have chosen is to highlight the various approaches to the struggle against systems of domination in the region, in order to emphasize what we have in common and to create productive spaces for engagement even with differences.

Saturday morning, we will begin with " Food Sovereignty in Stolen Land" on building practical and land-based autonomy in indigenous communities, and " Taking the Place of Work " by engaging with various approaches the beginning of the organization of workplaces. The introductory workshop on anarchism, " Against the Politicians, Even the Nice " focuses on what anarchism differs from various forms of socialism or progressism, especially our opposition to the state and politics of representation. At the same time " Not the Anarchism of Our Founding Fathers " presents a narrative of anarchist history that emphasizes the participation of women. We will end the day with consecutive workshops on resistance to imprisonment, beginning with "Anti-Prison Fight in Ontario and Quebec, "followed by" Working in Solidarity with Prisoners, "sharing practical ideas of how to show solidarity with people incarcerated in struggle. At the same time as these, " Taking sides: Revolutionary Solidarity and the Poverty of Liberalism " presents an idea of anarchist struggle based on solidarity that rejects the recovery of the institutional left, and the American launch of the English translation of the book " Revolution without Delay ", A biography of the anarchist Maria Nikiforove and her participation in the Russian revolution.

Book Fairs have a long history as an anarchist meeting place, and it's been two years since our last one in South Ontario. We share this text in the hope that the people of the region will talk about it with their comrades and help spread the word. news, also to make our activity and its reflections in this area visible in the wider anarchist space.
