I counted 1000 participators in 4th Finnish street party, thus at least
2000-4000 people have participated party between 12.30 and 19.00 and maybe
even tens of thousands visited. I was a bit disappointed anyway, I waited
for over 2000 participators. Anyway, we made a new national record again.

Party was great I guess, I worked as an animal all the time so I can't say
about it. We had two stages playing electronic music from progressive techno
to hip hop and drum & bass. Highlits were pro-zapatista demo outside the
consulate of Mexico wich was in party area, during wich flag of Mexico was
climbed down and burnt, and tree-planting to the middle of the road.
After-parties continued until 8 am, I had to quit at 5 am, lots of respect
to few people who cleaned up the places in morning.

Finnish street parties have traditionally been less political, wich is
making me more and more piss off all the time as one of the longtime
organizer of parties. One example, planted trees were voluntarily teared
away by organizers when party was over - Such incidents give big media a
chance to report parties as a "gathering of techno people". In the other
hand, it's important that people coming to parties are welcomed althought
they don't have "right political consciousness". Luckily, next one will be
held in Jyvaskyla during international rally competition 22.8. wich gathers
100 000 rednecks to the region - they don't have to worry about too small

I hope there'll be pictures of the party in a couple of days at Street party
of Finland-site: http://www.dlc.fi/~mekanist/sp

Party was recorded with tree cameras by media school students, and during
autumn I hope we'll have a documentary. Contact me if you are interested
receicing that.
