(en) Czech, AFED: Evacuate Moria! -- Report from a graffiti event in support of refugees imprisoned in the Greek islands [machine translation]

Date Wed, 13 May 2020 09:17:58 +0300

Although the whole of Europe is bound by measures taken against the spread of the pandemic, in the refugee camps on the Greek islands, the imprisoned refugees are left to their fate. People from Iraq, Syria or Afghanistan fleeing the war live here in inhumane conditions. Just to give you an idea, there are more than 20,000 people in the Moria camp on the island of Lesbos (it was set up for 3,000 refugees in 2015). ---- Campaign with slogans "Leave no one behind. Evacuate Moria! "(Let's not leave anyone in the lurch! Evacuate Moria!) We have seen in recent weeks, for example, in Germany, Denmark and Austria. Kolektiv 115 took it for granted in Prague, and when asked if I didn't want to take part in the weekend graffiti event, I found myself at the center of events. In the end, the Barrandov Bridge was chosen as the "crime scene", where a friend from Kolektiv 115 and I went the day before with the aim of identifying suitable places, measuring them and taking photos for others.

We met on "D-Day" directly under the Barrandov Bridge around three o'clock. In the end, in addition to the members of Kolektiv 115 and AF, friends from Vršovice skins also arrived. So a good dozen people. After measuring the first slogan "Evacuate Moria", it was decided that we often get in the way of so many people, so the Vršovice family opened a "second front" with the slogan: "Leave no one behind". The work, made more pleasant by drinking and making music from our mobile phone, went pretty well, so we were done around eight o'clock and lit the pyro for the final photo.

Charles Bridge

Let us add that Kolektiv 115 organized a happening in the center of Prague on the first weekend of May. He was also supported by activists from AF-Prague. They walked across Charles Bridge with the "Refugees welcome" flag and Czech and English slogans written inside the comic bubbles: "Leave no one behind", "Evacuate Moria!", "Borders are killing" or "Fight fortress Europe".
