(en) Czech, AFED: Olomouc: No war in northern Syria! - Report on the Olomouc Solidarity Action [machine translation]

Date Thu, 24 Oct 2019 09:14:16 +0300

In Support of the Kurds' Fight Against Turkish Aggression in Rojava ---- In the area of northern Syria, since October 9, a barbaric invasion of the Turkish army against SDF / YPG troops defending its self-governing territories has been taking place. The invasion was made possible by the announced withdrawal of coalition troops from the region, and due to the lack of force in favor of Turkey, the Kurds were forced to form an alliance with the President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Bashar al-Assad. This could, according to an agreement with the Kurds, provide some degree of autonomy in their territory. However, it is difficult to make illusions about the strength of agreements concluded with any state, as recently confirmed by the coalition betrayal. The dictator Assad's determination to defend the northern part of Syria depends further on stronger actors such as Russia and Iran, and at least Russia is not interested in a military clash with Turkey due to the ongoing convergence of the two countries.

That is why the Olomouc anarchists organized a spontaneous solidarity meeting at the Holy Trinity Column on Upper Square in cooperation with the local AF cell. The participants met in the evening and put a small banner in the center of the city saying "How many genocides will we experience? Say no to the Turkish invasion of Syria ". Activists placed candles in front of him as an expression of piety for the murdered defenders of Rojava by Turkish soldiers and their jihadist allies during the ongoing Turkish invasion, as well as a symbol of the enduring resistance of the Kurdish defenders of their survival rather than autonomy. On this occasion, thematic materials were disseminated, such as the current issue of the anarchist monthly A3,responding to the unfair situation of the Kurds in northern Syria, or posters with various motives to defend the revolutionary Swarm, referring to the international campaign # riseup4rojava. Pleasing the reactions of people who appeared to mostly interested in handouts A3 . A large part of them also told us that the events in northern Syria were actively pursuing and in such cases almost always shared our disagreement with the Turkish invasion. Solidarity action ended after about half an hour.

Although a possible scenario of the further development of the distribution of forces in Syria has been emerging as a result of recent events, it is important to show with these more modest acts of solidarity what we think of Turkey's imperialist and brutal aggression in northern Syria. Our solidarity is international and we must continue to exert a strong and stronger pressure on the attacking fascist regime in Turkey. Inspiring corporate governance in Rojava is under threat, but our international resistance is alive and the struggle continues!
