(en) Czech, afed: Not the Turkish invasion! Solidarity with Rojava! [machine translation]

Date Thu, 17 Oct 2019 11:51:58 +0300

Invitation to public events to be held in Prague, Ostrava, Brno and Bratislava on 16 October ---- Immediately after Trump instructed the withdrawal of US troops, Turkey and its jihadist militias, supported by it, launched an invasion of northern Syria (an autonomous region known as Rojava) last Wednesday. The Kurdish-Arabic Syrian democratic forces are facing an enormous superiority of NATO's second-strongest army on the more than 400 km long front. Civilian casualties are increasing every day. The numbers of people who fled bombing from their homes have already exceeded 200,000. There is evidence of war crimes (such as the execution of civilians without trial). Ethnic cleansing began in northern Syria, similar to the one Erdogan's army had done in Africa a year and a half ago. In addition, the Turkish offensive encouraged the sleeping cells of the so-called Islamic State (ISIS), which intensified their attacks. Thousands of ISIS fighters and their families imprisoned in Rojava are expecting the Turkish army in the hope of liberation. Kurdish guards are being attacked and the first of them managed to escape.

Along with the lives of its people, a unique social project based on bottom-up democracy, female emancipation, ethnic and religious tolerance, a project that represents hope for the entire Middle East, is also in jeopardy. Instead, as in Africa, we can expect the expulsion, kidnapping, torture, rape, seizure of houses, shops, fields and other property of the Kurds and other minorities by jihad families, forced conversion to Islam, constraints in the occupied territories under Turkish-supported jihad militias. women's rights (including forced cover-up, forced marriages, and re-expulsion of women from the public domain).

Although tens of thousands of people in Europe, America and elsewhere protest against the invasion every day, and aggression is condemned by more and more organizations, international institutions, as well as national governments, remain idle and do nothing to stop the invasion of barbarian hordes.

Let's not leave the inhabitants of Rojava alone! Let us show them our solidarity!
Let us defend the women's revolution in Rojava!
Let us put pressure on the Czech government and, through it, on international institutions that have instruments in their hands to stop Turkish aggression!

Condemning the invasion is not enough! It should be:
- the immediate introduction of a no-fly zone over northern Syria
- the imposition of economic sanctions on Turkey,
- the imposition of an embargo on arms and military equipment to Turkey.

On Wednesday, October 16, you can support one of the following public protests by participating:

Demonstration start: 6 pm at Klarov
Demonstration route: Klárov - Letenská - Josefská - Mostecká - Malostranské nám. - Nerudova - To the Castle - Hradcanské nám. - Loretánská - Loretánské nám. (in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs)

Start of demonstration: 18.00, Dominican Square
