(en) France, Union Communiste Libertaire AL #298 - Trade unions high school students: fascists in sight, fascists excluded ! (fr, it, pt)[machine translation]

The union high school student MNL, National High School Movement, which was named a few
months ago UNL-SD, for Union Nationale Lycéenne Syndicale et Démocratique, was born from a
split of the Union Nationale Lycéenne in 2016. This union, which claims to be union of
struggle and social transformation, had a funny shock last May ... ---- Indeed, members of
the MNL learned that one of their executives (Federal Head) was not only at the National
Rally (RN), but in addition to that close to Generation Identitaire, a fascist group that
has been talked about on many occasions these last years. Shortly after, they learned that
two other executives were close to the RN, and that one of them was quite influential in
Generation Nation (former National Youth Front), the young organ of the National
Gathering. directed by Jordan Bardella.
Several MNL anti-fascist activists then seized on the problem, and were able to organize a
vote of the federal referents of the organization to determine if the values of the
National Gathering were in contradiction with the values of the union. . Unfortunately for
them and them, the vote was inconclusive, since out of 15 federal executives, 5 voted yes,
5 voted no and 5 abstained.
At the end of July, these three sympathizers of the RN are finally excluded following a
decision of the National Office (BN), and train with them a hundred members of the MNL,
including about thirty in Finistere, where are two of the three frames, the other being in
the Aude. It should be noted that of the hundred, a good part probably had to leave not
for political reasons in the strict sense, but because of their affinity with the three
exclu.es, who did not fail to pose as political victims of an intolerant BN.
The extreme right reinforces its presence among high school students
Following their exclusion, these three individuals then tried to infiltrate another union
high school student, the FIDL (Independent and Democratic Federation High School), but
effective communication between the MNL and FIDL has allowed them to be excluded directly
after their accession. Nevertheless, there are currently some executives within the MNL
who were not in favor of their exclusion, and there is no guarantee that the far-right is
not trying to infiltrate the high school trade unionism again.
One can safely assume that part of the far-right has realized the activist potential of
youth, especially with the December high school movement, which was largely concentrated
in working-class neighborhoods. but also in rural areas, where the extreme right is more
established and has sometimes tried to approach the high school students of the movement.
While in Bordeaux, the French Action was twice surprised at the end of the year to
distribute his nauseating leaflets in front of high schools, it is Génération Identitaire
who went to stick his stickers on the facade of a high school in Auch in December, while
trying to build relationships with high school students on other occasions. And this kind
of example does not fail. Not having a high school organization,
Difficult to assert that this is a conscious strategy, anyway, these events should
encourage unionized or non-unionized students to reconsider the issue of anti-fascism, and
will likely have an impact. on the development of future unitary vigilance and training
frameworks on the subject. Moreover, some high school trade unionists seem to think that a
good measure to take would be to involve their structures in the inter-union association
VISA (Vigilance and Antifascist Trade Union Initiatives). To see where this leads, and if
it will help to repopulate the antifascist struggles in youth.
Faced with infiltration, do not leave the field
As for our prospects as revolutionary groups, it would be relevant to take the measure of
this threat, and not to leave the field to the fascists, nor to leave the organizations
high schoolers alone in this fight - leading for example upstream work Regular
politicization in front of high schools, dismantling reactionary and fascising ideas, in
particular by recalling the actions and the historical role of fascism, and on the largest
possible scale. Working on easily appropriable arguments, as well as on the production of
militant material that responds directly to this threat while integrating it into the
capitalist context that gives rise to it, can be tactical orientation tracks, on which we
will work soon.
