(en) 10th BALKAN ANARCHIST BOOK FESTIVAL Ioannina 23 to 25 June 2016, Grove (gr, pt)

Date Mon, 13 Jun 2016 12:31:30 +0300

The Balkan Anarchist Book Fair (Balkan Anarchist Bookfair) was first held in Ljubljana (Slovenia) in 2003. Since then takes place almost every year in a different city of the Balkans. This was followed in 2005 Zagreb (Croatia) in 2008 Sofia (Bulgaria), 2009 Thessaloniki (Greece) in 2010 in Zrenjanin (Serbia), 2011 Skopje (Macedonia), 2013 Ljubljana (Slovenia), the 2014 Mostar (Bosnia - Herzegovina) and in 2015 in Zadar (Croatia). The 10th consecutive festival will take place in Ioannina from 23 to 25 June 2016. ---- The purpose of the festival, apart from the sale and exchange of publications, is to bring together collectives and individuals of the anarchist / anti-authoritarian / autonomous space from different countries to open discussions on issues relating to social and class antagonism, to exchange ideas / practices / methods, with the aim of creating links of solidarity between the participants.

Lately, the countries of the Balkan Peninsula and Eastern Europe stratiotikopoiountai pretext address refugee and migration flows to Europe. At the same time, nationalism finds fertile development ground. In this climate, the need for communication and coordination structures to promote international solidarity is more than ever. In this direction we wish to contribute to this year's BAB.

In Ioannina the a / a / a space has a strong presence for over a decade, with involvement in the antifascist, anti-militarist, hardworking, student and social struggles. In the city center, but on campus, active and variety collectives operate squats, social centers and squats roof.

The city of Ioannina is a typical Balkan story. Multiethnic and multireligious to the First World War, loses the Muslim population by the forced population exchange between Greece and Turkey in 1923 with the Treaty of Lausanne. In 1945 the city's Jewish community was almost entirely exterminated in the concentration camps. The policy of purely national states left in Ioannina, unfortunately and elsewhere in the Balkans, the indelible mark of catastrophic.

Come and support this festival with solidarity and participation!
