(en) Brazil, Sao Paulo, Organization Anarchist Socialism Libertarian OASL - Interview with the MOB (Base Organization Movement) (pt)

Date Sun, 7 Feb 2016 17:57:13 +0200

We did an interview with the MOB (Base Organization Movement), present today in Rio de Janeiro and Paraná. The movement also begins to articulate in São Paulo and Pará. ---- 1) When you create and what the proposed MOB? ---- The Base Organization Movement, comes from the old Movement of Unemployed Trabalhaores For the Base, an organization that operated in the RJ. After a conference held in October 2013, we decided to deepen our goals and mobilization instruments. The purpose of the MOB is to fight the claim of rights and the most immediate needs of our people, whether in education, health, culture, work etc. We seek to build tools that help fight the daily walk toward these goals, as centers of culture, libraries, workshops, cultural activities, fight for rights, production jobs and collective income generation, education and other areas. The MOB is intended to be a territorial popular movement, which is mainly organized by place of residence, respect and dialogue with the reality of these territories.

2) As the MOB assesses its path of creation to the present day and what are the major lessons?

In recent years we have had good surprises. The first was the creation of motion in Parana at the initiative of companions and fighting companions. Today we have presence in two states, Rio de Janeiro and Paraná. Rio got nuclear movement to other areas of the city. We know there is still much to do but celebrate every advance in that direction. We have also proposed to build the movement in Sao Paulo. The great learnings have taken these years of practice, where we modestly build tools that give account of the popular needs. The great learning is to build a popular movement that is organized independently, strengthening mobilization tools in dwelling places (favelas, neighborhoods, towns, occupations) and that can realize the difficulties of reality.

3) As the movement sees the possibilities for social struggle at this juncture?
2013 was a turning point in the situation. Many fighters and fighters were surprised by the "reflux" that followed and the conservative rise. But it also reflects a part of the weakness of own anti-capitalist left, ignoring the need to build social movements. In addition, the PT government continues to deepen the cutting rights, repression of protest and the genocide of black and poor people. So the chances are organizing bases in fighting tools that overcome the fragmentation, lack of planning and strategy and the authoritarian or electioneering method of doing politics. The people are receptive to the organization of proposals that give account of their needs and point to the construction of struggle and mobilization tools. Just for this, do some serious work with continuity and collective spirit that the "pie grows."

4) What are the prospects of the MOB for years to come?

Our task for the coming years is to continue to deepen the tools of struggle and mobilization. enraizarmos us in different areas, organizing poor black youth, workers and unemployed workers, women, formal and informal workers, teachers / as, viznhas and neighbors. The slogan is "nuclear" movement, building a popular movement that always organizes the base, but with a strategic horizon, paddling together and moving forward. We also need to learn more from the experience and other popular movements. Further internal discussions and guided an agenda of struggle. For those who want to know us, we ask you to get in touch with our media.
