For clarity, we begin with some definitions. ---- The term "cult" has two main meanings: it can be a number of people expressing and relating to the same beliefs, opinions or principles. But it is also a closed set in opposition to the dominant ideas and religious practices religious group. In a cult (as in religion) the deist dimension is not necessarily present. ---- Sectarian drift causes a change in the freedom of religion, conscience and thought that violates public policy, laws and regulations, human rights and security / integrity. A sect exercises (by organized groups or isolated individuals) pressures aimed at exploiting someone. This had negative consequences for the victim, deprived of part of his free will, but also for his entourage and for society.

What criteria determine the activities of sects?

These formal criteria are developed by several parliamentary commissions of inquiries, which have permis_d'établir a list of clues for the identification of sectarian mental destabilization, exorbitant financial demands, a break with the original environment the bodily integrity, indoctrination of children, antisocial speech disturbances to public order, the importance of legal troubles, possible diversion of traditional economic circuits, infiltration attempts powers public.

What is the difference between religion and cult?

We can define religion as a set of beliefs and indisputable principles, and a set of practices related to these beliefs and principles; knowing that religion can be a deist or non-theistic, that is to say, asserting the existence of one or more god (s).

We can see from these definitions that the link between religion and sect is very ambiguous. A great thinker said that the only difference between the two was the size. Indeed, because of their size, religions are more widespread, more formal and they will find it more difficult to commit harm to the believers and deprive them of their liberty.

Extremist religions (eg Islam group, Boko Haram, Niger) are closer to the sects, because they send believers to fight for their cause, such terrorist organizations and their believers embrigadant by cutting the rest of the world and ligating against the non-believers. Formerly it was the Crusades...

How sects have they adapted to technological advances and changes in society?
We can already draw the conclusion that the internet has greatly benefited tool sects that exploit the global nature of the Internet and the lack of legal rules. Indeed, the advent of the Internet has greatly trivialized the speech or "alternative" advocated by some sects, especially in the field of health methods. Sectarian websites are happily promoting their methods and miracle products, whose sole purpose is to attract and desperate people in fragile situations. Internet also opens the borders and thus to extend the scope of action of sectarian groups. Some gurus even control their followers and victims from social networks. The absence of a moderator or control the content of sites or social networks complicates the effectiveness of preventive and repressive action of government, which is already fairly efficient...

Internet, good tool originally shows that cults use of everything around us to the most vulnerable followers, and thus adapt to the modern world.

As libertarians and anarchists, the same principle of the sect is against our ideology. Submission in sects, -with the pyramid structure, in most cases, a guru who creates the internal law of the secte-, manipulation of followers with their psychological isolation, or physical, violates the values of equality, freedom and anti-authoritarianism that we advocate. The relationship between religion and sect is still debating given the scope of the term "religion." Our personal opinion is that non-extremist religions are for the moment and overall less harmful than sects.
