(en) (IAF-IFA) People of all the mediterranean countries unite (it)

Mediterranean. A region of freedom in which important social movements and political tendencies that have tried -sometimes with insurrections, sometimes by creating their own societies- to realize social equality and brotherhood of people. ---- Mediterranean. A region of brutality, devastated by wars and slaughters, caused by governments and empires, by religious obscurantism, nationalism, racism and statism. A battleground in which conflicts between economic interest and state powers follow one onother, massacring the people around that sea. ---- Today, the Mediterranean is again in between these two opposing worlds. The exploted people in the Mediterranean have to choose between freedom and barbarism, struggle or resignation. ---- The choices are two: struggle for a region in which cooperation between peoples and subordination of economy to social interest will represent a concrete social emancipation; or give in to the arrogance of state, government, corporations, priests, and every kind of fascists, in a society transformed in immense slave market of cheap workers or lines of unemployed fighting each other.

The upsetting of international relations and the overturning of strengthened
alliances between states, the collapse of longtime regimes, the economic crisis
that creates cohorts of poor, migratory movements from countries ravaged by
military interventions, by civil wars, and by the devastating invasion of big
companies, the strong competition for power between the masters of the world
and their local minions, and a variety of other reasons create an explosive
political and social situation.

Brutality and social massacre trouble mediterranean societies. The capitalist
attack against the working class, and the resulting destruction of big parts of
the middle class, the totalitarian form of repression by the state, the tightening
up of legislation, the rise of neofascism, the violent religious conflicts targeting
minorities, show that the world of brutality has imposed a dystopia around
the Mediterranean basin. Poverty, unemployment, low wages, repression,
xenophobia, nationalism, constitute the new characteristics of the European
south and not only. On the other side, religious obscurantism, and more
in general authoritarian reaction, nullify whatever progress and hope was
generated by the "Arab spring".

However in last years took place wide insurrectional movements, in which
in some cases radical ideas arise or are in formation. Between these ideas is
naturally present the anarchist perspective of social liberation. Anarchist ideas
find rich soil in these insurrectional outbreaks, and are reaching a precedentless
diffusion in the Mediterranean area. Never before, the anti-authoritarian
practices of direct democracy, the horizontal organization and direct action
without intermediaries had a similar influence in this region of the planet.

So, if the world of capitalist and state barbarism and of obscurantism nationalist
and religious seem to dominate, on the other hand, another world, the world
of the overthrow of domination, the world of freedom, shows signs that are
emerging in places where few could imagine that would happen, even in
incredibly radical ways.

We, as anarchists, are a significant part of this world of freedom, a world that
rises, and that develops itself and that can spread quickly in an unexpected
social explosion. Each struggle, although apparently marginal is important
and valuable. It's a step to the next step, it's one of the steps of the climb up to
the jump for the social liberation.

We, as anarchists, consider very important to participate actively in these
processes but also to highlight the different forms of social resistance, the
struggles in the streets and neighborhoods of modern metropolis, in every
city and village, in workplaces, in schools and universities

All these communities of struggle, through self-organization and horizontal
ways, can create a Mediterranean of cooperation between peoples, of solidarity
of class and internationalist. Only through daily action from below we can create
concrete worlds of freedom, not fakes, as usually happens with governments'
agendas.

We are struggling for destruction of capitalism, this exploitation system that
wants that an half of proletarians working from morning to night and that an
other half pleading for a work.

We are struggling for destruction of state, this tyrannical mechanism that is
the watchman of submission and plundering of communities by big capitalism.

We are struggling for coexistence and cooperation between peoples, that make
one more time the sea a crossway of ideas and cultures, no more an area of
exploitable lot of sea, an area of tourism industry, a rag cut and sewn with the
borders of different states, and a grave of drowned immigrants.

We are struggling against the destruction of this sea and of the surrounding
geomorphological environment, we propose again peremptorily the crucial
question of the balance between human activities and natural environment.

We are struggling for freedom, equality, brotherhood, for communism and
anarchy.

Front of social liberation against the enemies of freedom

Common mediterranean front against those who dismember Mediterranean, the surrounding lands and its people
