(en) Brazil: Strengthening Anarchism on a regional level. Declaration by the 2nd Encounter of Especifista Anarchism in the Northeast [pt]

Date Thu, 19 Apr 2012 14:36:04 +0300

A further step forward in the advancement of Especifista Anarchism in northeastern Brazil has been made. Meeting in Recife, we sought to further the debate on Especifism and the structuring of political groupings in our region, with a view to strengthening and consolidating our movement. ---- We believe that Especifismo goes beyond a simple organizational model and also means the beginning of its own theoretical construction within anarchism. Even if we do not yet have a common theory, we already have a similar political practice, which will certainly influence our joint theoretical development. --- We study the classics, like Bakunin and Malatesta, as well as the more recent experiences of the comrades of the Federación Anarquista Uruguaya (FAU) since the 1950s. And so, we will be seeking to build elements for our own formulations in theoretical and organizational terms, in order to improve our political practice to plant the roots of our ideology.

In this challenge, we emphasise the importance of the active minority as a principle of especifismo. That is to say, for anarchists to work more in order to cause an increase in the struggles from within the social movements, seeking to develop more combative positions and horizontality. In a phrase: to create a strong people.

In the struggle for the construction of popular power, we understand "power" as the ability to do and not the ability to oppress. It is necessary to distinguish between the concepts of "power" and "dominion", where dominion means the practice of using the forces of the people against the people themselves. This concept is the result of our ideology and theory, and influences our strategy.

Mindful of the need for the consolidation and expansion of especifismo, our grouping is part of a historic effort of regional realignment aimed at strengthening the national coordination of the struggles. In this spirit, we welcome the Forum of Organized Anarchism (FAO) and other especifista organizations in the battle to build a Brazilian Anarchist Coordination (CAB - Coordenação Anarquista Brasileira) to be established in June this year.

Struggle, create, popular power!
Long live Anarchy!
