(en) US, Mailing party for new issue of Turning the Tide, Tuesday 10 AM - 9:00 PM at Peace Ctr 8124 W Third, L.A.

Date Sat, 10 Sep 2011 20:49:02 +0300

The new issue of "Turning the Tide: Journal of Anti-Racist Action*, Research & Education" is going to press Monday night, a little early to accommodate the Anti-Racist Action conference in Chicago next weekend. The issue includes updates on the CA prisoners' hunger strike, coverage of the recently established National Confederation to Free Unjustly Incarcerated and Political Prisoners, perspectives and information on the October2011 anti-war, social and economic justice encampment in Washington DC, scene reports from Anti-racist Action around the US and Canada, a historical Black Manifesto from the Black Riders Liberation Party about the 1992 LA uprising and its aftermath in the new millennium, a first person account from a TX member of ARA who served 2 years in prison behind entrapment by an FBI informant, a heads-up about the upcoming national civil rights conference for Formerly Incarcerated People to be held in L.A. in November by "All of Us or None," and a lot of other material about indigenous, Mexican and Puerto Rican struggles hard to find anywhere else.

Every issue, over 1500 copies are sent into prisons around CA and the rest of the US, and we need volunteers to help with the time-consuming process of folding, sealing, stamping and labelling those copies.

Please help out on this project. Bundles will also be available for distribution locally. Mailing will start Tuesday, Sept. 13th at 10 AM at the Peace Center, 8124 W. Third St. near Crescent Heights, and continue late into the evening, hopefully until finished. We'll wrap up any overflow Wednesday during the day, but call first to check about Wednesday (310-890-7104). RSVP if you can make it, and we will try to have some healthy snacks and drinks to accommodate people. Even an hour or two anytime during the day will help!
