(en) Britain, All London Anarchist Revolutionary Movement (ALARM ) statement on N30 Strike

Date Fri, 02 Dec 2011 18:15:20 +0200

November 26, 2011 ---- Solidarity to the strikers ---- The All London Anarchist Revolutionary Movement (ALARM) would like to express solidarity with the 3 million workers taking strike action on November 30th. We are workers, students, the unemployed, trade unionists, parents, carers, activists. Many of us will be striking on that day and many more of us will join you on your picket line and march with you through central London. ---- We understand the action on November 30th as not just being about pension reform, but also about attacks on the welfare system, the NHS, education, workers, parents, young people, the elderly – the working class. We recognise the desperation we feel, the worry about the future, the desire for a better life and for real and true social change, as a reaction against the devastation being wreaked on our communities by the implementation of austerity.

Capitalism is crisis and we can no longer deny the impact of this crisis on our lives. Our livelihoods are threatened and our children’s future is being stolen by the greed of the boss class. The strike on November 30th is an essential action in defence of our class and a decent life.

Thatcher and successive governments have tried to destroy the trade union movement in this country and break the backs of organised workers. The November 30th strikes represent a fightback, a realisation that we the workers, have the power to make a difference, to punish those who try to steal our money, our time, our life and to take that power back.

It has been a tumultuous year, and one that has given us much hope. From the student demonstrations of last winter through to half a million trade unionists marching through London on March 26, the June 30th strikes and the summer riots, working class people are rising up from their knees and saying loud and clear, enough is enough. By doing so we are creating a culture of resistance and demonstrating that we will not accept this anymore. The strike on November 30th is just the beginning…

Solidarity to the strikers and to all of those struggling in defence of working class people.

Keep on striking until we win.
