Le 27 février dernier à 3h34 locales, le Chili était durement touché par un violent 
séisme de magnitude 8,8. Selon les estimations, il y aurait environ 800 morts, le 
nombre de sinistrés étant quant à lui évalué à 2 millions. 
L'Etat chilien n'a trouvé d'autres moyens que d'envoyer l'armée dans les zones
