A fascinating programme, which kicks off with a compilation of activist videos, followed
by a Q&A with Lymor Goldstein about the use of video testimonies in court. --- After this,
there is the film A Short History of the Struggle Against the Wall by Jonathan Massey),
followed by a Q&A with the director. The question session will deal with the concept of
Activism through the lens. --- Lymor Goldstein is an activist with Anarchists Against the
Wall, a direct action group that was established in response to the construction of the
wall Israel is building on Palestinian land in the Occupied West Bank. The group works in
cooperation with Palestinians in a joint popular struggle against the occupation.
Goldstein was shot in his head during a demonstration in the Palestinian village of
Bil’in, and a film shown in Amsterdam will feature a footage documenting the event.
Goldstein is a human rights attorney who uses video testimonies in court. He represents
the anarchists and Palestinian activists such as Ashraf Ibrahim Abu Rahme who was recently
shot while being handcuffed. A documentation of this infamous incident will be shown as well.
A Short History of the Struggle Against the Wall (Jonathan Massey)
2009 12 minutes
This is a rough collage and a mix of footage from the last few years (and would be
flexible to change depending on recent events). Starting from the protest camp in Mas’ha
Village in 2002 till the creative resistance of the people of Bil’in. The movie shows too
the process and evolution of the role of the Anarchists Against the Wall group.
Jonathan Massey is an independent activist documentary Cameraman and filmmaker documenting
for over the last 10 years different social and political events in Israel and Palestine.
He makes short videos for activist groups, for mainstream News media and documentaries.
Among recent projects were filming for Director Shai Carmeli Pollack the award winning
documentary Bilin My Love (2006) and Refugees (2008). He has been documenting among other
things the actions of the Anarchists against the wall since their start.
