(en) Russia, Clowns against stalinists and other recent actions in Moscow and SPB

There are so much anarchist-related actions in Moscow nowadays, not to talk
about other cities, that it is pretty much impossible for me to write about them
here. Today (29th) there was an action to commemorate murdered Czech
anti-fascist Jan Kuchera in Czech representation in St. --- Petersburg:
http://piter.indymedia.ru/node/4080 ---- In 27th of January there was an action
of commemoration in Moscow: http://streetsmedia.livejournal.com/81574.html
According to text in site, "On January 27, 2008 about 60 girls and boys standing
against fascism organized a protest action in commemoration of Jan Kuc(era, an
Anti-fascist, 18 years old, killed by a Nazi on January 18, 2008.

They came up to Czech Embassy, put the Yan's photo, brought flowers to
his portrait, and by lighting candles they demonstrated that they are
not pococurante to what is happened on the Earth and they wouldn't stay
home watching scoundrels killing people."

This was not permitted action, cops showed up and arrested 2 persons
violently, but they could not imagine any charges against them so they
were released.

Also in 27th of January animal rights activists demonstrated against
killing of baby seals in White Sea, Rossian government has now allowed a
Norwegian company to export this nasty business to Russia.
<snip>
Clown Army tried to make some life to rather pathetic meeting, with
various levels of success. http://anatrrra.livejournal.com/67812.html
There was an incident in this meeting when people from independent
Stalinist youth organization raised their party flags, although party
symbolics were not allowed in the meeting. Apparently stalinist youth
was not aware of this agreement, but when they were told about it, they
ignored requests of organisers to take their flags down. So a number
of anarchists interfered, there was a small fight and two stalinist
flags were stolen before cops interfered. Stalinists went shouting
"return our flags", disturbing the meeting, this also annoyed police so
they arrested number of Stalinists.

Anarchists made a communique, signed as "Anti-Bolshevist action", and
released a video in which they are burning the trophy flag in
youtube:

You bet Stalinists were pissed of this, they have been spreading all the
kinds of lies and also publishing photos of anarchists online, something
which may put ones life in danger in Moscow conditions. Stalinists also
made a conclusion that Rebel Clown Army is a provocation sponsored by
Kremlin, and they must be decisively fought in future.

In Moscow state university there are two initiative groups - group of
students from faculty of Biology against obligatory animal preparation,
and a group in Sociology faculty, which had campaign last year for
affordable cafe and is now campaining for quality of education.
Anarchists used to be involved in both of the groups, but now most
anarchists have left the group in faculty of sociology due to
differences in opinions. However in Friday 25th both groups organised a
common action in "Day of Tatyana" which is sort of Student's day in Russia.

There were several protests against import of nuclear waste to Russia
last week. In Wednesday 23rd, Rainbow Keepers and Autonomous Action
visited German embassy and consul with illegal demonstrations, nobody
was arrested. Photos:

In Tuesday 22th there was a protest of people living in Marshal
Biryuzova street close to Oktyabrskoe Pole metro station against
densification development of Don Stroy corporation, which is building
huge condomiums just few meters from houses of the dwellers. This was a
site of intensive conflict in summer, at one point goons of Don Stroy
attacked anarchists and other activists leaving from action with
baseball bats and other weapons, there was recently a court against
these bulls but it failed to proof that they were hired by Don-Stroy.

Now the movement has lost its momentum, but still few dozen people
organised a short-lived street blockade. Among few dozen arrested there
were 12 or 13 anarchists, one of them was released only the following
day with charges of "obstructing traffic", you may read his report in
Russian from
