A-Infos (en) Britain-Chile, Anarchist Solidarity Federation call for solidarity to save the life of Patricia Troncoso, Mapuche political prisoner

Dear Comrades --- This is a urgent call for solidarity to save the life of 
Patricia Troncoso, Mapuche political prisoner on hunger strike.We have just 
spoken with comrades in Santiago and they think that Patricia could die in 3 or 
4 days time. She has been on hunger strike for 111 days and she has been 
force-fed in the last few days by police.  Doctors have said that she is not 
likely to survive for more than 10 days in her current situation.  She remains 
locked down by the military in order to isolate her from friends, family and 
even doctors from the same hospital.  The doctors from the hospital have been 
publicising this inhuman situation and the president of the Chilean Medical 
Association is going to intervene before the Chilean Government.

Those doctors state that they have not seen this kind of militarisation at the 
hospital, including in the times of Pinochet repression, that the treatment 
given by the police doctors will kill Patricia and that her demands and cause 
are just.Patricia has declined the last offer of the Chilean Government (through 
the Catholic Church) that if she stop the hunger strike they will move the 
hunger strikers to a prison farm in six months time and allow weekend leave. 
The Government have not agreed to do it in March as demanded neither to the 
other demands to release Mapuche political prisoners, to de-militarise Mapuche 
communities or to investigate land grabs of Mapuche land by forestry and energy 
trans-national companies. Therefore Patricia will continue on hunger strike at 
the hospital.

Although we have called for people to demonstrate in front of the Chilean 
Embassies next Friday the 1st February at 12 pm, now it may be too late as 
Patricia could die at any time.We ask comrades around the world to help us to 
save the life of Patricia.We call all comrades internationally to demonstrate 
next Wednesday 30th of January at 12 pm in front of the Chilean Embassies of 
their countries and to phone, fax, e-mail and visit the Chilean Embassies in 
order to ask for the state of health of Patricia Troncoso, ask for her medical 
report and demonstrate their concern. Anything that you think will help to save 
her life. The situation is extremely serious, this woman would die, her cause is 
just and the behavior of the Chilean government fascist, racist and immoral.
