Over 100 activists from across the country and diverse backgrounds, (instead of
going to Florida) beating the freezing negative 16 degrees weather, came to
attend the first Sept 1st RNC protest organizing meeting, host by Coalition to
March the RNC and Stop the War http://protestrnc2008.org ---- The Republican
National Convention will be held September 1-4 at Minneapolis-St Paul, MN. The
coalition is calling for massive September 1st antiwar protest against the
opening day of the RNC convention (with other marches/actions organized by
different organizations at different days). The demand: U.S. --- out of Iraq
Now! Money for human needs, not for war! Say no to the Republican Agenda!
Demand peace, justice and equality!

Several dozen organizations, includes: Anti-War Committee, AFSCME Local
3800, Students for a Democratic Society*, United for peace & Justice, Teamsters
Union Local 73, Arab American Action Network, International Action Center,
International ANSWER, Welfare Rights Committee, Veterans for Peace, Women
gainst Military Madness and our organization spend two days to discuss and
share ideas how to organize the march.

The purpose of the meeting includes: To promote Principles of Unity
called by the Coalition to March the RNC and Stop the War:
(1) Our solidarity will be based on respect for diversity of tactics and the
plans of other groups.
(2) The actions and tactics used will be organized to maintain a separation
of time and space.
(3) Any debates or criticisms will stay internal to the movement, avoiding
any public or media denunciations of fellow activists and events.
(4) We oppose any state repression of dissent, including surveillance,
infiltration, disruption and violence. We agree not to assist law enforcement
actions against activists and others.

Second, to setting up an organizational structure that would allow
organizations from around the country to participate.
Third, exchange idea and information on how to organize September 1st march,
such as: program and rally, logistics, security, fund raising, planning
contingent and feeder marches.
