Our friend and comrade Noël Michon died at 11 o'clock this morning at the 
hospital. --- On Thursday, May 24th, late afternoon, he was working in the 
chair department of the workshop. On his own at his work station, he fainted at 
some time between 3.30 and 4.30 pm and nobody heard him fall. Nobody checked 
whether he had left the factory even though he hadn't clocked out. At 8.30 the 
following morning, two comrades found him lying on the floor in a pool of dark 
blood. He had spent the night on his own, comatose, at his workplace. As soon 
as he saw Noel, a comrade put him in a position to help him breathe. He was 
driven to hospital immediately. In the evening, we knew his state would not 
improve. A brain vessel had exploded and too much time had passed between the 
moment he fainted and the time the rescue team arrived. The damage was 
irreversible.

During the whole evening on Thursday, his children had been trying to join
him on his cell phone. They contacted the hospitals and the police. Nobody
could have imagined that Noel was dying in the workshop...

On Tuesday morning, an extraordinary meeting of the CHSCT was held in
presence of the work inspector who was here to hear witnesses.The
syndicate had contacted the work inspection that very afternoon in order
to give all the elements we had at our disposal and we also informed the
local press.

We are now patiently expecting the results of the investigation. A man
died and the light must be thrown on this tragedy. We already know that
the company will defend themselves by saying that this is all a series of
circumstances.

Easy way out. The CNT will attack the inexcusable fault of the employer.
That is to say, our positions are once again totally opposed. Noel was the
first CNT syndical delegate at Interior's at the times of the repeated
lawsuits, then he was elected CNT workers' delegate with other
comrades, once for two years and the last time for four years.

No mortal accident at work is common but we are deeply affected by this one.

The syndicate sympathise with Noel's family, his sister, his 7 and 12
year-old daughters and his 18 and 21 year-old sons.

The syndicate will follow the case until the end and will help the family
with the legal proceedings.

Our comrades will attend his funerals. Noel was 45.
