LETTER FROM NIKAIA GENERAL HOSPITAL, GREECE
We have spent the last period in Nikaia hospital in conditions of
isolation, without phone contact, without easy access to newspapers, and
under continuous harassmentd during lawyers' and relatives' visits. We
have nevertheless been informed of your continual and ever-intensifying
solidarity actions, as well as of their confrontation on the part of the
State. Having lost any "humane" facade, the atrociousness of their true
face is increasingly manifest as with particular zeal they repress any
effort at publicity of our collective struggle. The police's severe
beating of V. Grivas, last Saturday January 13, is characteristic. We
are especially glad when we are aware of you - the immediate contact and
power of your solidarity give us the courage and strength to continue.
AS MUCH AS THEY TRY TO SUBJUGATE CONSCIENCES, SO MUCH WILL CONSCIENCES
REBEL.
THE PASSION FOR FREEDOM IS GREATER THAN ANY CELL.

_________
Yesterday, there was a 15.000 strong students demo in Athens against the
educational reform (the revision of the Article 16 of the constitution to
allow private universities -so far universities are only public in Greece).
After clashes with the police during the demo, the most important being the
one with leftists and anti-authoritarians attacking the police cordons in
front of the parliament, about 3.000+ people, among them many anarchists,
returned to the Polytechnic that is occupied since January 13 for
solidarity
with the 6 May prisoners. Students had a national meeting for the
continuation of their struggle inside the the Polytechnic. Serious clashes
occured around the Polytechnic and lasted for some hours, with many people
participating in the barricades and the defense of the campus from the
police.
Tension stopped at night and the occupation continues. It must be noted
that
many university schools all over Greece are occupied by the students'
general assemblies, as a protest to the educational reform. Many of these
general assemblies have issued announcements demanding the immediate
liberation of 6 May prisoners
