(en) Poland: antimilitaristic action at the ministry of education made by students' iinitiative

Yesterday the Students Initiative conducted a happening at the
Ministry of Education in Warsaw. The reason for this particular action
were the statements of the Minister of Eduction (Roman Giertych we
wrote already about the fascist sympathies of this man and about an
ongoing student campaign to oust him from office). The minister has
said that pupils who behave badly should be put in special schools
where the teachers would be retired commando soldiers. This is
supposed to cure the problem of violence in schools.
This proposal - which was serious and not a joke - was made in the
context of renewed pledges of sending Polish military to Afghanistan
and an ongoing campaign by te government to present the military as an
attractive thing for young people.

In the course of the happening of the students, some "bad students"
were driven by use of whips and chains to the ministry of education by
"good students". There the students demanded that the "bad students"
be taken by the commandos and occupied for about 20 minutes the
building. Nobody was arrested this time, because the action was too
