Los Angeles, California. - In these moments, in which thousands of
representatives of the Preventative Federal Police (PFP) such as the
marines and the military can be found ready to repress the Oaxacan
people, by order of the President Vicente Fox and after the brutal
armed attack that yesterday took 4 lives and in which 27 others were
injured at the hand of the PRIs under the order of Ulises Ruiz, Oaxacan
organizations in the United States, along with other Mexican groups and
collectives, and Latin American groups and individuals in solidarity,
held a protest rally at the Mexican Consulate in Los Angeles to demand
a stop to an intervention by the armed forces and the impeachment and
incarcelation of Ulises Ruiz, amongst other things.
The anguish and pain for the blood that has already been spilt in
Oaxaca affects EVERYONE, and for this reason, from here we say to our
Oaxacan brothers that YOU ARE NOT ALONE. We know that the people have
decided to defend their homes, their streets, their neighborhoods and
the entire city even though the government has already responded with
the use of force against the legitimate claims of the people.
The struggle of the oaxacan people is a just struggle and in front of
the entire world we denounce the fact that in Oaxaca, as in the rest of
our country, there is no democracy, no liberty and no justice, and also
groups of assassins that try to keep power in their hands at all costs,
even if they have to massacre the people...
We believe that institutional violence will not end with the social
discontent in Oaxaca since the problem is not only a problem for
teachers but goes back to the history of repression that has been
suffered by the indigenous people, the peasants and the people in
general, who have now risen up to say "STOP NOW! The repressive and
corrupt governments. We know that the assassins will not succeed in
silencing the voice of an entire people because its struggle is just,
and is a struggle for its rights.
We are putting a call out to all organizations, collectives, groups
and conscious people to, together with us, denounce this barbarous act
committed by the PRI/PAN government and the complicity of all the
political parties, who are in this moment, remain in complete silence,
in front of this repression.

The Convocation is for the 28th of October, at 4pm, in front of the
Mexican Consulate. The APPO of Los Angeles will initiate today an
informational brigade in the neighborhoods with a high concentration of
oaxacan people in this city, in all those place of the city where we
are, to denounce the repression; On Monday we will hold a press
conference to announce what will happen next; on Wednesday there will
be other protests in the same place, and on Thursday we will begin an
indefinite sit-in in front of the Mexican Consulate in Los Angeles.

Out with the assassin, Ulises Ruiz Ortiz, from Oaxaca!
Prison for the killers!
On lives the dignified and heroic people of Oaxaca!
On live the indigenous people that in this moment are defending foot by
foot their territory!
