Join the June 27th National Day of Action to Stand Up with Lt. Ehren Watada!
“I refuse to be silent any longer. I refuse to be party to an illegal and immoral
war against people who did nothing to deserve our aggression. My oath of office
is to protect and defend America’s laws and its people. By refusing unlawful orders
for an illegal war, I fulfill that oath today.” -- U.S. Army First Lt. Ehren Watada
In New York City - join Students for a Democratic Society NYC and friends
in a vigil in support of war resister Lt. Watada. The vigil will be held on
Tuesday, June 27th. Participants should assemble on the steps of Borough Hall,
Staten Island, opposite the ferry terminal at 7 PM. Bring signs and banners
proclaiming your support for Lieutenant Ehren Watada and his brave stand
against an illegal and immoral war. Demand that the government not punish
him for refusing to obey illegal orders - a right guaranteed by US law.

U.S. Army First Lieutenant Ehren K. Watada reported to duty at 2:00 a.m. on
Thursday, June 22nd and refused orders to move to McChord Air Force Base to
prepare to fly to Iraq. Lt. Watada believes that the war and occupation in Iraq
are illegal, and thus participation in the war is also illegal. At this time he
has been restricted to base and has been ordered to have no communication with
non-military personnel. Lt. Watada is being court martialed for this refusal.
He needs our support.

What: Vigil in support of Lieutenant Ehren Watada
Who: All friends of peace and progess
Where: Steps of Borough Hall, Staten Island

Take the 1 train to South Ferry or the R/W to Whitehall. The SI Ferry
runs every half hour (more frequently during the height of rush hour).
Exit the ferry terminal and walk across the street. Boro Hall is

passes directly by it on their commute home.
