Every 1st Monday of the Month: General CAN Meeting 6:00 - 8:00 pm
Association House (1116 N. Kedzie) Wheelchair Accessible
CAN general meetings act as a clearinghouse for anarchists to share
resources and promote each others projects in a climate of mutual
aid and support. General CAN meetings are also intended to help
facilitate participation between the autonomous working groups of
CAN. CAN operates under a consensus decision making model.

CAN Political Discussion Night

The CAN political discussion nights are intended for anarchists to
debate different tendancies within anarchism; to help foster more
thought behind action and for all of us to share our ideas on strategy,
tactics, theory and practice to help build a more cohesive anarchist
movement.
[November 14th 6:30-8:30 pm at Columbia College (624 s. Michigan
Room # 1408 Discussion Topic "Gender and Sexuality: Beyond the
Gender Binary System." We'll be discussing the ways in which rigid
gender roles and expectations effect gender varient people and what
role anarchists can play in fighting for trans liberation, queer
liberation and women's liberation. Suggested reading material:
"Politicizting Gender: Moving Towards Revolutionary Gender
Politics" by Carolyn and "Intersex and Trans Demands." Columbia
College is wheelchair accessible.]
[December 12th 6-8 pm at the Frederick Douglass Branch of the
Chicago Public Library (3353 W. 13th Street in the Auditorium)
Discussion topic: "Racism and White Skin Priviledge Politics" Part
III. Suggested reading material: SNCC's statement "Basis of Black
Power" and the SDS, Weathermen and Prarie Fire Organization
position papers on race. At this discussion we plan on discussing
how we as anarchists define race and class and how our politics
around race and class differ from the largely Maoist New Left of the
60's. The Douglass Branch is wheelchair accessible.]

CAN is sponsoring this monthly book discussion group to encourage
critical thinking and revolutionary self-education. Through reading
both anarchist and non-anarchist texts we hope to fine-tune our own
political beliefs, develop stronger anarchist critiques of issues that
affect our daily lives and find new ways to put anarchist theory into
practice.
