(en) Canada, First Anarchistic Festival of Montreal - Update

Date Wed, 15 Feb 2006 19:39:47 +0200

Newly created "Anarchistic Theatre Festival" is now in search of submissions
of anarchistic plays which will be presented May 8, & 9 2006, in Salla Rosa.
It will be the first event of its kind in North America.
The festival is organized within the framework of the "Festival of
Anarchy", an annual event in Montreal which will be concluded with
the 7th Anarchist Book Room of Montreal which will take place May
20, & 21 2006. It is the largest anarchistic event in North America.
We are thus in the search of theatre pieces about anarchists,
anarchistic ideas, the history or any other subject relating to
anarchism. We will consider parts or monologues which are, either
new and original creations or texts which were written by traditional
or contemporary anarchists. The parts can be either complete
productions or readings and in French or English.

We seek parts which are against the State, capitalism, sexism,
homophobie, imperialism and authoritarianism. We want anarchistic
content, written by anarchistic authors or those interested in
anarchism. You can consult the "Principles" section of the Web site
of the Anarchist Book Room for a more detailed description of the
criteria required and for the best suited anarchistic content.

We ask all potential participants to explain to us in what area of the
Anarchistic Theatre Festival their project lies within.

This is a voluntary event, therefore participants will not be paid. On
the other hand the Festival will provide publicity, a suitable room and
an interested audience. All the income coming from ticket sales will
be used to cover the expenses of the Festival and will be used to
create another event.

If you are interested, please send a summary or a sample of your
piece to us as soon as possible, at the latest on February 22, 2006.
