(en) Holland, WHAT IS AGA? ANARCHIST GROUP OF AMSTERDAM (AGA)* [nl]
Date
Sat, 16 Dec 2006 16:35:23 +0200
The AGA is a group of people which cooperates for creating solutions and
alternatives for the problems which they encounter at the workplace, at
school or somewhere else in the society. The main point is anarchism.
The AGA fights for self-management and a world without exploitation or
oppression in which the production is according to need and not for
profit. Organisation The AGA is a collective without hierarchy. In every
meeting, once in two weeks, all matters with which the group occupies
itself are discussed. This concerns making action plans in case of
problems at work, but also organising meetings and making and spreading
of propaganda material. All decisions must be taken in this meeting, in
which consensus is strived for. Decisions that are taken outside this
meeting of members must at first be discussed and
adopted. This can be the case when AGA cooperates with other groups in a
federative link. The AGA maintains contacts with similar base groups in
other places and cooperates regularly with several anti-authoritarian
organisations. The AGA has been dovetailed to Buiten de Orde
(http://www.buitendeorde.nl <http://www.buitendeorde.nl/>). Direct
action The resources which the AGA applies are diverse forms of direct
action and information.
The emphasis lies on self-organisation and there is therefore no
mediation of representatives, or mediators. All action is undertaken
directly by the members themselves. Therefore direct action is based on
solidarity and mutual aid. Examples of action topics are (illegalised)
work, squatting/living, people without papers, anti-repression,
anti-detention. In the previous years some employers of inns have been
put under pressure with actions to pay remunerations still due. Tenants
and squatters have been assisted with their conflicts with landlord or
municipality, which wanted the occupants from the house to leave because
of reasons of speculation. The AGA has cooperated with initiatives of
people without papers and has organised solidarity actions. Individual
freedoms and collective achievements are damaged by the government and
repressive measures increase. Also more and more and longer prison
sentences are imposed. The prison system is a destructive protuberance
of the state. For this reason everything is being done to weaken this
pillar of the regime.
Anarcho-syndicalism The central topic of the AGA is the fight between
labour and capital. Boycott, sabotage and
strike are forms of direct action in this fight. Boycott against a
certain company exists of paralysing the activity of that company by not
using the products or services of it. Punctuality action, slow working,
blockades and occupations are forms of action with which the production
process is sabotaged. Strike is meant to stop the production process.
The strike must be unlimited and only ends when the requirements are
granted. In this the AGA tries to play a stimulating and organising role
to realise self-management. Information To inform people about the
actions and ideas of the AGA and others, the free booklet Directe Actie
is published irregularly in association with Anarchist Black Cross (ABC)
Amsterdam, a solidarity group (anarchist and left-radical) prisoners.
One can get or look at Directe Actie at several places in the
Netherlands. The AGA holds consulting-hour and anarchist library in
Infokafee Bollox, 1st Schinkelstraat 14-16, every
Saturday from 14 hours till 18 hours (phone: 020 6790712). In the
anarchist library one can lend books against a small guarantor. Also
there lies a large quantity of independent information for inspection in
the form of magazines. Other applied forms of propaganda are leaflets,
stickers, information - and discussion meetings. The mail
address of the AGA is PO Box 16521.,1001 RA Amsterdam or aga@squat.com.
