(en) Portugal, «Luta Social» n.17/18: Editorial [pt]

Date Fri, 25 Aug 2006 22:39:36 +0300

When this number is published, in the end of August 2006, we will be
involved in the AC-Interpro General Assembly preparation, where some
important orientations will be approved for this anti-authoritarian and
anti-capitalist union, the first to appear in Portugal after 25th April
74. Because we -members of «Luta Social» Collective- are also members of
AC-Interpro, we assumed being its support bulletin.
> Times of great increase in exploitation are facing us, with increases in
unemployment but mainly in labour a social precarious situations.
From the statistical data on employment, there is one that should not
remain unnoticed, because it's symptomatic of an evolution: in Portugal,
nine out of ten of the new work contracts are precarious ones.
It will be a difficult to fight against the spreading of the job
insecurity, against the contracts without warranties, making us
«provisional» for the whole life or until the boss decides to fire us. But
this shouldn't be a reason for us to lay down our arms.
We have solutions, in our General Demands Platform, for this and for other
labour and social issues.

Taking advantage of the bureaucratic unions complete lack of interest, the
B.E. (leftist parliamentary party) is publicizing a party bonded «march
against unemployment», to capitalize on workers and youth dissatisfaction.

We, in AC-Interpro, as a non-demagogic voice, a responsible and truly
syndicalist one, will not be with this mediatic and political party's made
We have to distinguish between social and syndicalist struggles from
political party's propaganda and electoral manoeuvres.
