(en) Israel, Tel-Aviv, the first of May demonstration of the local anarchists

Date Sun, 30 Apr 2006 23:53:54 +0300

As in many other places, the 1st of May demo occurred a day earlier - Sunday 30.4.06
After noon, towards the end of the working day for many, the local anarchists (and
some others with the same state of mind but without the self label of anarchists) met
in the business center of Tel-Aviv. About 70 participants with suitable flags - most
of them black, started a four hours march. The route of the march started at the
intersection of Rotshield and Biniamin (Hertsel?), passed along the Rotshild and
Ben-Zion boulevards, Disengof and Even-Gvirol streets. Most of the march on the pavement
but with some infringement on the road itself. The less than two kilometers route
took about four hours, but not because the participants were tired from the week end...
The demonstrators paid some visits to specific business along the route, and no one
of them was arrested only because the police choose not to participate...

May be the first time in many years no police car or even one policeman were seen
around in such a demo.

The first visit paid by the demonstrators was a branch of Bank Hamizrahi. The
demonstrators told the people there their mind, disturbed the regular work, and
would have been arrested if the police which was called had arrived. Then, the march
continued and the next visits were in offices of companies of temporary (precarious)
workers. There, the demonstrators told the workers their opinion about the extra
exploiting of the temp workers by these companies. There too the police did not
respond to the calls of the bosses who complained about the disorder the demonstrators
caused.

After the long march ant visits, the demonstrators arrived at the Cinematec Square,
and paid a friendly visit this time to an happening of the Israeli Palestinians
DAHAM party.

After a while, as the positive energy was high, instead of dispersing the march and
visits on the way continued.

First were two visits two locations of the new shops' network of EM:PM
There, the demonstrators talked to the harshly exploited workers and did some
disturbance before continued the march.

And of course, it is absolutely out of question that the local anarchists will
not visit a branch of Mkdonalds in such a day. The branch at Disengof Center moll
experienced the last visit of the march and careless demonstrators broke there
a window.

Then, Tired but happy, the demonstrators dispersed.
