(en) US, Bring the Ruckus web site Update
Date
Mon, 19 Sep 2005 20:35:15 +0300
Friends and comrades, The Bring the Ruckus website http://www.agitatorindex.org/
has been updated. Included in this update are the following articles and features:
- Watts 40 Years Later - Interviews by Roy San Filippo
"On the fortieth anniversary of the Watts rebellion, activists and communities
members gathered to commemorate the event and to protest the ongoing
police violence against the Black and Brown communities of Los Angeles,
including the police murders of two children. In the following audio
interview, activists reflect on the LAPD, police
brutality and the legacy of the Watts rebellion."
MP3 format interviews - our first ever multimedia feature!
- A Southern Strategy for Bring the Ruckus
By Dan Horowitz de Garcia (Atlanta) and Joel Olson
(Flagstaff)
"If we don't figure out how to build power in the
South, we won't be changing much of anything in this
country. For while the foundations of state repression
lie in the South, so do the foundations for freedom
struggles: the overthrow of slavery (which, as W.E.B.
Du Bois shrewdly argues, was won by a "general strike"
of labor by half a million slaves who crossed Union
lines), Reconstruction, Civil Rights, and the Black
power movements all originated in the South."
- What is a Cadre Organization?
by Joel Olson
"A cadre organization is a group of committed, active,
revolutionary intellectuals who share a common
politics and who come together to develop
revolutionary thought and practice and test it out in
struggle. By "active" I mean one who is involved in
political struggle, not merely a book reader. By
"intellectual" I don't mean someone with a college
degree but one who makes a serious, ongoing commitment
to understanding the world in order to better agitate
within it."
- Most importantly, this update also includes
information about the solidarity network being formed
with Friends and Families of Louisiana's Incarcerated
Children in the wake of Katrina. Volunteers are needed
for this project.

information, and more can be found at
