Anarchist MovementIn memorial of the legal murder of the anarchists
Louis Lingg, Albert Parsons, George Engel, August Spies, Adolph Fischer
by the state of Illinois in 1886, BAAM held a candle light vigil in
downtown Boston. At the vigil the speeches the accused had read during
their kangaroo trial were soapboxed to a large onlooking crowd. Labor
songs were sung. Pamphlets about the history of the 8-hour day struggle
were distributed to a receptive audience. Many passersby were genuinely
interested in the history and the lessons that it teaches us today.
