■ Film Screening: The Fourth World War

The QPIRG-McGill Library presents:

The Fourth World War
A Big Noise Film narrated by Michael Franti and Suheir Hammad
Wednesday May 18th 2005 7:00pm
Leacock Building (McGill) Room 26
855 Sherbrooke St. W. (corner McTavish and Docteur Penfield)

The Fourth World War is a film compiling coverage shot on the front lines
of struggles around the world; places the corporate media simply cannot
access. The film weaves together stories of those on the frontlines in
Mexico, Argentina, Palestine, South Africa, Korea as well as the
dissidents of free trade from Seattle to Quebec City to Genoa, and finally
the 'War on Terror' in New York and Iraq. Spanning two years of filming
and five continents, the producers of the film hope to convey the idea
that the struggles for social justice in the 'West', human rights in the
'East', fair trade in the 'North' and liberation from imperialism in the
'South' are all inextricably linked.

Come see the latest release from Big Noise Films that has everyone talking!

■ OPENING EVENT OF THE 6TH MONTREAL ANARCHIST BOOKFAIR

LOVE and POLITICS
By Living Theater

Love and Politics is a collection of poems
and dramatic texts by Judith Malina,
Hanon Reznikov and Julian Beck read by
Living Theatre directors Judith Malina
and Hanon Reznikov. The materials
include selections from Poems of a Wandering
Jewess by Judith Malina, scenes from
Living Theatre plays Utopia, The Zero
Method and Capital Changes by Hanon
Reznikov, from Judith Malina's translation
of Brecht's Antigone and excerpts from
The Life of the Theatre and Theandric
by Julian Beck.

Love and Politics offers a poetic approach
to two of the themes which have been
at the center of The Living Theatre's
work since the company's founding in 1947
- the interaction of the political process
and the force of love. The work of
Malina, Reznikov and Beck is fo-cussed
on humanity's millennial dream of
uniting these aspects of life in a
cosmically inspired fusion that transcends
the quotidian contradictions that have
fostered the alienation that separates
most people from the realization of their
highest potential.
