Across the country, our earth draws closer to the brink. Global warming
has become a fact in the eyes of the world’s top scientists, the world’s
oceans rise in temperature as whole hosts of marine life are dying, and
logging corporations cut deeper into the last of the world’s old growth
forests. Globalization throughout the majority world creeps into more
and more indigenous cultures, either destroying them or turning them
into de-facto slaves in corporate sweatshops for the so called, “free-market”.
Locally, urban sprawl is effecting us all. Local shops are driven under
as the Wal-Marts and Barns-n-Nobel kill off anything resembling, local,
union, good jobs. Rents are driven up everywhere, as people from other
areas flee their own rising rents. Roads and strip malls destroy
orchards, farms, and fields. Homeless people, youth, activists, and
others who don’t fit into a plan for rapid corporitization are swept
under the rug, in an effort to make Modesto safe for profit, and not for
community. How much longer must we stand by and watch as the millions of
pounds of smoke climb into the air on our way to work? How much longer
will we watch as a new McDonalds is slopped into another area where good
jobs and community based businesses used to exist? If there is going to
be a start to stop this - let’s start on a day where we are supposed to
care about the earth - EARTH DAY! Let’s make this day EARTH FIRST DAY!

Earth First Day Events!:
-Food Not Bombs will be serving Breakfast and Lunch! Free for all!
-Free film showings! We will be showing a wide range of radical
documentary films on various environmental issues.
-Free literature/journals/zines! Our info shop staff will be on hand to
offer a wide range of reading material.
-Radical street theater! We will be performing various earth friendly
skits!
-Really (Really) Free-market! With shirts, patches, and food!

WHERE: Graceada Park, Modesto

WHEN: April 23rd, Saturday

TIME: 10AM-5PM

LOOK FOR THE D.A.A.A. COLLECTIVE TABLE (WITH BANNERS, FLAGS)

  From out of town, simply take the Central Modesto Exist off of 99
highway, (either from southern or norther CA), go left on G Street (one
way), and then left on 15th Street. Graceada Park is large park on
Needham Street. Look for DAAA Collective table.
